You covered it with the deep like a cloak;
    the waters rose above the mountains.
At your rebuke[a] the waters took to flight;

They rose up to the mountains
    and flowed down to the valleys,[b]

Footnotes

  1. Psalm 104:7 Rebuke: see Ps 76:7. Waters took to flight: poetic description of what took place on the third day of creation (see Gen 1:9f).
  2. Psalm 104:8 They rose up to the mountains and flowed down to the valleys: the sources of the Jordan and the other great rivers of the Near East are in the mountains. Another translation offered is: “The mountains rose high and the valleys went down.”

You covered the earth with deep water,
    like a coat.
The water covered the tops of the mountains.
But when you shouted,
    the water went back.
It ran away,
    when you shouted like thunder.
The water poured down from the mountains,
    and it went down into the valleys.
It went to stay in the place that you had chosen for it.
You made a border for the water
    so that it could not cross.
Never again will the water cover the earth.[a]

Footnotes

  1. 104:9 See Genesis 1:9-10.

Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains.

At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.

They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them.

Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.

你定了界限,使水不能过去,不再转回遮盖地面。
