⁴ Gladden the soul of your servant,
    for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.^(A)

⁸ Let me hear of your steadfast love in the morning,
    for in you I put my trust.
Teach me the way I should go,
    for to you I lift up my soul.^(A)

¹ To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.^(A)

¹³ As a mother comforts her child,
    so I will comfort you;
    you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.^(A)

¹⁴ You shall see, and your heart shall rejoice;
    your bodies^[a] shall flourish like the grass,
and it shall be known that the power of the Lord is with his servants,
    and his indignation is against his enemies.^(B)

¹⁸ But be glad and rejoice forever
    in what I am creating,
for I am about to create Jerusalem as a joy
    and its people as a delight.^(A)

³ to provide for those who mourn in Zion—
    to give them a garland instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness instead of mourning,
    the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
    the planting of the Lord, to display his glory.^(A)

¹² Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
    and sustain in me a willing^[a] spirit.^(A)
