¹⁷ But as for me, I am poor and needy;^(A)
    may the Lord think^(B) of me.
You are my help^(C) and my deliverer;^(D)
    you are my God, do not delay.^(E)

¹⁸ “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,^(A)
    because he has anointed me
    to proclaim good news^(B) to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
    and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,

³ “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
    for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.^(A)

⁶ This poor man called, and the Lord heard him;
    he saved him out of all his troubles.^(A)
