⁸ Let me hear joy and gladness;^(A)
    let the bones^(B) you have crushed rejoice.

⁴ Blessed are those who mourn,
    for they will be comforted.^(A)

¹⁷ “Blessed is the one whom God corrects;^(A)
    so do not despise the discipline^(B) of the Almighty.^[a](C)
18 For he wounds, but he also binds up;^(D)
    he injures, but his hands also heal.^(E)

¹⁸ “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,^(A)
    because he has anointed me
    to proclaim good news^(B) to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
    and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,

¹⁰ My whole being will exclaim,
    “Who is like you,^(A) Lord?
You rescue the poor from those too strong^(B) for them,
    the poor and needy^(C) from those who rob them.”

⁵ Those who sow with tears^(A)
    will reap^(B) with songs of joy.^(C)
6 Those who go out weeping,^(D)
    carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy,
    carrying sheaves with them.
