⁴ The one who has clean hands^(A) and a pure heart,^(B)
    who does not trust in an idol^(C)
    or swear by a false god.^[a]

⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart,^(A)
    for they will see God.^(B)

¹⁰ Create in me a pure heart,^(A) O God,
    and renew a steadfast spirit within me.^(B)

⁹ Nevertheless, the righteous^(A) will hold to their ways,
    and those with clean hands^(B) will grow stronger.^(C)

¹⁵ Those who walk righteously^(A)
    and speak what is right,^(B)
who reject gain from extortion^(C)
    and keep their hands from accepting bribes,^(D)
who stop their ears against plots of murder
    and shut their eyes^(E) against contemplating evil—
¹⁶ they are the ones who will dwell on the heights,^(F)
    whose refuge^(G) will be the mountain fortress.^(H)
Their bread will be supplied,
    and water will not fail^(I) them.

⁶ I wash my hands in innocence,^(A)
    and go about your altar, Lord,
