⁶ who spread out the earth^(A) upon the waters,^(B)
His love endures forever.

²² Should you not fear^(A) me?” declares the Lord.
    “Should you not tremble^(B) in my presence?
I made the sand a boundary for the sea,^(C)
    an everlasting barrier it cannot cross.
The waves may roll, but they cannot prevail;
    they may roar,^(D) but they cannot cross it.

⁵ He set the earth^(A) on its foundations;^(B)
    it can never be moved.
⁶ You covered it^(C) with the watery depths^(D) as with a garment;
    the waters stood^(E) above the mountains.

¹² But God made^(B) the earth^(C) by his power;
    he founded the world by his wisdom^(D)
    and stretched out the heavens^(E) by his understanding.
¹³ When he thunders,^(F) the waters in the heavens roar;
    he makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth.
He sends lightning^(G) with the rain^(H)
    and brings out the wind from his storehouses.^(I)

¹⁴ Everyone is senseless and without knowledge;
    every goldsmith is shamed^(J) by his idols.
The images he makes are a fraud;^(K)
    they have no breath in them.
¹⁵ They are worthless,^(L) the objects of mockery;
    when their judgment comes, they will perish.
¹⁶ He who is the Portion^(M) of Jacob is not like these,
    for he is the Maker of all things,^(N)
including Israel, the people of his inheritance^(O)—
    the Lord Almighty is his name.^(P)

¹⁰ Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.^(A)”
    The world is firmly established,^(B) it cannot be moved;^(C)
    he will judge^(D) the peoples with equity.^(E)

⁴ “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?^(A)
    Tell me, if you understand.^(B)
