⁴² “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! He’s the king of Israel!^(A) Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe^(B) in him. ⁴³ He trusts in God. Let God rescue him^(C) now if he wants him, for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”

³⁰ come down from the cross and save yourself!” ³¹ In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked him^(A) among themselves. “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! ³² Let this Messiah,^(B) this king of Israel,^(C) come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe.” Those crucified with him also heaped insults on him.

⁵ While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.^(A) Listen to him!”^(B)

¹⁷ And a voice from heaven^(A) said, “This is my Son,^(B) whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”^(C)
