⁸ They are brought to their knees and fall,^(A)
    but we rise up^(B) and stand firm.^(C)

²¹ Evil will slay the wicked;^(A)
    the foes of the righteous will be condemned.
²² The Lord will rescue^(B) his servants;
    no one who takes refuge^(C) in him will be condemned.

⁷ “But blessed^(A) is the one who trusts^(B) in the Lord,
    whose confidence is in him.
⁸ They will be like a tree planted by the water
    that sends out its roots by the stream.^(C)
It does not fear when heat comes;
    its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought^(D)
    and never fails to bear fruit.”^(E)

⁵ Blessed are those^(A) whose help^(B) is the God of Jacob,
    whose hope is in the Lord their God.

⁶ He is the Maker of heaven^(C) and earth,
    the sea, and everything in them—
    he remains faithful^(D) forever.
⁷ He upholds^(E) the cause of the oppressed^(F)
    and gives food to the hungry.^(G)
The Lord sets prisoners free,^(H)
8     the Lord gives sight^(I) to the blind,^(J)
the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,^(K)
    the Lord loves the righteous.^(L)
9 The Lord watches over the foreigner^(M)
    and sustains the fatherless^(N) and the widow,^(O)
    but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.

³¹ “So may all your enemies perish,^(A) Lord!
    But may all who love you be like the sun^(B)
    when it rises in its strength.”^(C)
