⁷ In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace^{(A) 8} that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and insight

Christ Our Advocate

2 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous,^{(A) 2} and he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.^(B)

²⁴ For in^[a] hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope, for who hopes for what one already sees?

²⁰ But law came in, so that the trespass might increase, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,^{(A) 21} so that, just as sin reigned in death, so grace might also reign through justification leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
