Legal Decisions by Priests and Judges

⁸ “If a judicial decision is too difficult for you to make between one kind of bloodshed and another, one kind of legal right and another, or one kind of assault and another—any such matters of dispute in your towns—then you shall immediately go up to the place that the Lord your God will choose,^(A)

⁸ Moreover, in Jerusalem Jehoshaphat appointed certain Levites and priests and heads of families of Israel to give judgment for the Lord and to decide disputed cases. They had their seat at Jerusalem.^(A)

²² Rehoboam appointed Abijah son of Maacah as chief prince among his brothers, for he intended to make him king.^(A)

¹⁸ Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over^[a] the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were priests.^(A)

¹⁸ When he has taken the throne of his kingdom, he shall write for himself a copy of this law on a scroll in the presence of the Levitical priests.^(A)
