Psalm 47
English Standard Version
God Is King over All the Earth
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of (A)the Sons of Korah.
47 (B)Clap your hands, all peoples!
(C)Shout to God with loud songs of joy!
2 For the Lord, the Most High, (D)is to be feared,
(E)a great king over all the earth.
3 He (F)subdued peoples under us,
and nations under our feet.
4 He chose our (G)heritage for us,
(H)the pride of Jacob whom he loves. Selah
5 God (I)has gone up with a shout,
the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.
6 Sing praises to God, sing praises!
Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
7 For God is (J)the King of all the earth;
sing praises (K)with a psalm![a]
8 God (L)reigns over the nations;
God sits on his holy throne.
9 (M)The princes of the peoples gather
as the people of the God of Abraham.
For (N)the shields of the earth belong to God;
he is highly exalted!

3 He subdued(F) nations under us,
peoples under our feet.
4 He chose our inheritance(G) for us,
the pride of Jacob,(H) whom he loved.[b]

2 At once (A)I was in the Spirit, and behold, (B)a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne. 3 And he who sat there had the appearance of (C)jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was (D)a rainbow that had the appearance of an emerald. 4 Around the throne were (E)twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders, (F)clothed in white garments, with (G)golden crowns on their heads. 5 From the throne came (H)flashes of lightning, and rumblings[a] and peals of thunder, and before the throne were burning (I)seven torches of fire, (J)which are the seven spirits of God, 6 and before the throne there was (K)as it were a sea of glass, like crystal.
And around the throne, on each side of the throne, are (L)four living creatures, (M)full of eyes in front and behind:

2 At once I was in the Spirit,(A) and there before me was a throne in heaven(B) with someone sitting on it. 3 And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper(C) and ruby.(D) A rainbow(E) that shone like an emerald(F) encircled the throne. 4 Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders.(G) They were dressed in white(H) and had crowns of gold on their heads. 5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder.(I) In front of the throne, seven lamps(J) were blazing. These are the seven spirits[a](K) of God. 6 Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass,(L) clear as crystal.
In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures,(M) and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back.(N)

6 And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw (A)a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with (B)seven eyes, which are (C)the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. 7 And he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne. 8 And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders (D)fell down before the Lamb, (E)each holding a harp, and (F)golden bowls full of incense, (G)which are the prayers of the saints. 9 And they sang (H)a new song, saying,
“Worthy are you to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
for (I)you were slain, and by your blood (J)you ransomed people for God
from (K)every tribe and language and people and nation,
10 and you have made them (L)a kingdom and priests to our God,
and they shall reign on the earth.”
11 Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering (M)myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice,
(N)“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might
and honor and glory and blessing!”
13 And I heard (O)every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying,
“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”
14 And the four living creatures (P)said, “Amen!” and the elders (Q)fell down and worshiped.

6 Then I saw a Lamb,(A) looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures(B) and the elders.(C) The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes,(D) which are the seven spirits[a](E) of God sent out into all the earth. 7 He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne.(F) 8 And when he had taken it, the four living creatures(G) and the twenty-four elders(H) fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp(I) and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers(J) of God’s people. 9 And they sang a new song, saying:(K)
“You are worthy(L) to take the scroll
and to open its seals,

persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.(O)
10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests(P) to serve our God,

11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand.(R) They encircled the throne and the living creatures(S) and the elders.(T) 12 In a loud voice they were saying:
“Worthy is the Lamb,(U) who was slain,(V)
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!”(W)
13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth(X) and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying:
“To him who sits on the throne(Y) and to the Lamb(Z)
be praise and honor and glory and power,
for ever and ever!”(AA)
14 The four living creatures(AB) said, “Amen,”(AC) and the elders(AD) fell down and worshiped.(AE)
