Proverbs 6:2-23

²if you are ^(A)snared in the words of your mouth,
    caught in the words of your mouth,
³then do this, my son, and save yourself,
    for you have come into the hand of your neighbor:
    go, hasten,^[a] and ^(B)plead urgently with your neighbor.
⁴^(C)Give your eyes no sleep
    and your eyelids no slumber;
⁵save yourself like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter,^[b]
    ^(D)like a bird from the hand of the fowler.

⁶^(E)Go to ^(F)the ant, O ^(G)sluggard;
    consider her ways, and ^(H)be wise.
⁷^(I)Without having any chief,
    ^(J)officer, or ruler,
⁸she prepares her bread ^(K)in summer
    and ^(L)gathers her food in harvest.
⁹^(M)How long will you lie there, ^(N)O sluggard?
    When will you arise from your sleep?
¹⁰^(O)A little sleep, a little slumber,
    ^(P)a little ^(Q)folding of the hands to rest,
¹¹^(R)and poverty will come upon you like a robber,
    and want like an armed man.

¹²^(S)A worthless person, a wicked man,
    goes about with ^(T)crooked speech,
¹³^(U)winks with his eyes, signals^[c] with his feet,
    points with his finger,
¹⁴with ^(V)perverted heart ^(W)devises evil,
    continually ^(X)sowing discord;
¹⁵therefore calamity will come upon him suddenly;
    ^(Y)in a moment he will be broken ^(Z)beyond healing.

¹⁶There are ^(AA)six things that the Lord hates,
    ^(AB)seven that are an abomination to him:
¹⁷^(AC)haughty eyes, ^(AD)a lying tongue,
    and ^(AE)hands that shed innocent blood,
¹⁸^(AF)a heart that devises wicked plans,
    ^(AG)feet that make haste to run to evil,
¹⁹^(AH)a false witness who ^(AI)breathes out lies,
    and one who ^(AJ)sows discord among brothers.

Warnings Against Adultery

²⁰^(AK)My son, keep your father's commandment,
    ^(AL)and forsake not your mother's teaching.
²¹^(AM)Bind them on your heart always;
    ^(AN)tie them around your neck.
²²^(AO)When you walk, they^[d] will lead you;
    ^(AP)when you lie down, they will ^(AQ)watch over you;
    and when you awake, they will talk with you.
²³For the commandment is ^(AR)a lamp and the teaching a light,
    and the ^(AS)reproofs of discipline are the way of life,
