Proverbs 22
New King James Version
The Value of a Good Name
22 A (A)good name is to be chosen rather than great riches,
Loving favor rather than silver and gold.
3 A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself,
But the simple pass on and are (D)punished.
4 By humility and the fear of the Lord
Are riches and honor and life.
5 Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse;
He who guards his soul will be far from them.
7 The (F)rich rules over the poor,
And the borrower is servant to the lender.
10 (J)Cast out the scoffer, and contention will leave;
Yes, strife and reproach will cease.
11 (K)He who loves purity of heart
And has grace on his lips,
The king will be his friend.
12 The eyes of the Lord preserve knowledge,
But He overthrows the words of the faithless.
13 (L)The lazy man says, “There is a lion outside!
I shall be slain in the streets!”
14 (M)The mouth of an immoral woman is a deep pit;
(N)He who is abhorred by the Lord will fall there.
15 Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child;
(O)The rod of correction will drive it far from him.
16 He who oppresses the poor to increase his riches,
And he who gives to the rich, will surely come to poverty.
Sayings of the Wise
17 Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise,
And apply your heart to my knowledge;
18 For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you;
Let them all be fixed upon your lips,
19 So that your trust may be in the Lord;
I have instructed you today, even you.
20 Have I not written to you excellent things
Of counsels and knowledge,
21 (P)That I may make you know the certainty of the words of truth,
(Q)That you may answer words of truth
To those who [d]send to you?
22 Do not rob the (R)poor because he is poor,
Nor oppress the afflicted at the gate;
23 (S)For the Lord will plead their cause,
And plunder the soul of those who plunder them.
24 Make no friendship with an angry man,
And with a (T)furious man do not go,
25 Lest you learn his ways
And set a snare for your soul.
26 (U)Do not be one of those who [e]shakes hands in a pledge,
One of those who is [f]surety for debts;
27 If you have nothing with which to pay,
Why should he take away your bed from under you?
29 Do you see a man who [h]excels in his work?
He will stand before kings;
He will not stand before [i]unknown men.

22 Es mejor ser respetado que ser rico,
porque el buen nombre es más importante que el oro o la plata.
2 El rico y el pobre tienen en común
que el SEÑOR los creó a ambos.
3 El prudente ve el peligro y lo evita;
el insensato sigue adelante y recibe el daño.
4 Respeta al SEÑOR y sé humilde,
así tendrás riquezas, honor y una vida verdadera.
5 El perverso vive metido en problemas;
el que aprecia su vida se mantiene alejado de ellos.
6 Enseña al niño a ser honesto
y cuando sea adulto no dejará de serlo.[a]
7 El pobre es esclavo del rico;
el que pide dinero prestado se convierte en servidor del que le presta.
8 El que siembra dificultades, cosechará desgracias;
terminará destruido por el mal que les causó a los demás.
9 El que es generoso recibirá bendición
por compartir su alimento con los pobres.
10 Haz que se vaya el arrogante, que con él se irán los problemas
y se acabarán las discusiones y los escándalos.
11 Por la sinceridad de sus palabras,
el que es honesto se ganará la amistad del rey.
12 El SEÑOR vigila y protege a la gente que lo conoce,
pero destruye a quienes se alejan de él.
13 El perezoso dice: «No puedo ir a trabajar ahora
porque afuera hay un león y puede matarme».
14 La boca de la adúltera es una trampa muy honda
y el que caiga en ella se acarreará la ira del SEÑOR.
15 La necedad hace parte del corazón del muchacho,
pero la vara de la disciplina hará que se corrija.
16 Explotar al pobre con tal de hacerse rico
o darle regalos a los ricos,
son dos maneras de arruinarse.
Palabras sabias
17 Escucha lo que digo
y presta atención a los dichos de los sabios para que los aprendas.
18 Será un placer para ti memorizarlos
y repetirlos continuamente te ayudará.
19 Te los enseñaré ahora
para que confíes en el SEÑOR.
20 He escrito 30 dichos
que contienen consejos y sabiduría.
21 Estos dichos te enseñarán verdades importantes
para que así des buenas respuestas al que te envió.

22 No robes al pobre porque es pobre,
tampoco oprimas en el juzgado al necesitado,
23 pues el SEÑOR está de su lado,
los defenderá y despojará al que les robe.

24 No seas amigo del que se enoja con facilidad,
ni te acerques al que se molesta fácilmente;
25 no sea que aprendas sus malas mañas,
y ellos mismos sean tu propia trampa.

26 No respondas por compromisos ajenos,
ni seas fiador de las deudas de otros,
27 porque si no puedes pagar,
correrás el riesgo de perder hasta la cama.

28 Nunca cambies los antiguos límites de una propiedad,
los que fueron puestos por tus antepasados.

29 El que es hábil en su trabajo estará al servicio de reyes
y no tendrá que servir a gente de poca importancia.
