⁴ to give prudence to ^(A)the simple,
    knowledge and ^(B)discretion to the youth—
⁵ Let the wise hear and ^(C)increase in learning,
    and the one who understands obtain guidance,
⁶ to understand a proverb and a saying,
    ^(D)the words of the wise and their ^(E)riddles.

³ yes, if you call out for insight
    and raise your voice ^(A)for understanding,
⁴ if you seek it like ^(B)silver
    and search for it as for ^(C)hidden treasures,
⁵ then ^(D)you will understand the fear of the Lord
    and find the knowledge of God.
⁶ For ^(E)the Lord gives wisdom;
    from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;

¹⁰ for wisdom will come into your heart,
    and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;
^11 (A)discretion will ^(B)watch over you,
    understanding will guard you,
¹² delivering you from the way of evil,
    from men of perverted speech,

⁹ They are all ^(A)straight to him who understands,
    and right to those who find knowledge.
^10 (B)Take my instruction instead of silver,
    and knowledge rather than choice gold,
^11 (C)for wisdom is better than jewels,
    and ^(D)all that you may desire cannot compare with her.

    and ^(B)the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.
