Proverbs 10:6-21

New King James Version

⁶Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
⁷^(A)The memory of the righteous is blessed,
But the name of the wicked will rot.

⁸The wise in heart will receive commands,
^(B)But ^[a]a prating fool will ^[b]fall.

⁹^(C)He who walks with integrity walks securely,
But he who perverts his ways will become known.

¹⁰He who winks with the eye causes trouble,
But a prating fool will fall.

¹¹The mouth of the righteous is a well of life,
But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

¹²Hatred stirs up strife,
But ^(D)love covers all sins.

¹³Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has understanding,
But ^(E)a rod is for the back of him who ^[c]is devoid of understanding.

¹⁴Wise people store up knowledge,
But ^(F)the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.

¹⁵The ^(G)rich man’s wealth is his strong city;
The destruction of the poor is their poverty.

¹⁶The labor of the righteous leads to ^(H)life,
The wages of the wicked to sin.

¹⁷He who keeps instruction is in the way of life,
But he who refuses correction ^[d]goes astray.

¹⁸Whoever ^(I)hides hatred has lying lips,
And ^(J)whoever spreads slander is a fool.

¹⁹^(K)In the multitude of words sin is not lacking,
But ^(L)he who restrains his lips is wise.
²⁰The tongue of the righteous is choice silver;
The heart of the wicked is worth little.
²¹The lips of the righteous feed many,
But fools die for lack of ^[e]wisdom.

⁶Blessings [are] for the head of the righteous, And the mouth of the wicked cover doth violence.

⁷The remembrance of the righteous [is] for a blessing, And the name of the wicked doth rot.

⁸The wise in heart accepteth commands, And a talkative fool kicketh.

⁹Whoso is walking in integrity walketh confidently, And whoso is perverting his ways is known.

¹⁰Whoso is winking the eye giveth grief, And a talkative fool kicketh.

¹¹A fountain of life [is] the mouth of the righteous, And the mouth of the wicked cover doth violence.

¹²Hatred awaketh contentions, And over all transgressions love covereth.

¹³In the lips of the intelligent is wisdom found, And a rod [is] for the back of him who is lacking understanding.

¹⁴The wise lay up knowledge, and the mouth of a fool [is] near ruin.

¹⁵The wealth of the rich [is] his strong city, The ruin of the poor [is] their poverty.

¹⁶The wage of the righteous [is] for life, The increase of the wicked for sin.

¹⁷A traveller to life [is] he who is keeping instruction, And whoso is forsaking rebuke is erring.

¹⁸Whoso is covering hatred with lying lips, And whoso is bringing out an evil report is a fool.

¹⁹In the abundance of words transgression ceaseth not, And whoso is restraining his lips [is] wise.

²⁰The tongue of the righteous [is] chosen silver, The heart of the wicked -- as a little thing.
