And how long will ^(B)scoffers delight themselves in scoffing
And fools ^(C)hate knowledge?

⁶ A scoffer seeks wisdom and finds none,
But knowledge is easy for one who has understanding.

¹² A ^(A)scoffer does not love one who rebukes him;
He will not go to the wise.

^25 (A)Strike a scoffer and the naive may become clever,
But ^(B)rebuke one who has understanding, and he will ^[a]gain knowledge.

^29 [a]Judgments are prepared for ^(A)scoffers,
And ^(B)beatings for the backs of fools.

¹¹ When the ^(A)scoffer is punished, the naive becomes wise;
But when the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge.

²⁴ “Proud,” “Arrogant,” “^(A)Scoffer,” are his names,
One who acts with ^(B)insolent pride.
