Wisdom Hosts a Banquet
9 Wisdom has built her house.
She has carved out her seven pillars.
2 She has prepared her meat.
She has mixed her wine.
She has set her table.
3 She has sent out her servant girls.
She calls from the highest places in the city,
4 “Whoever is gullible turn in here!”
She says to a person without sense,
5 “Come, eat my bread,
and drink the wine I have mixed.
6 Stop being gullible and live.
Start traveling the road to understanding.”
Wisdom Prolongs Life
7 Whoever corrects a mocker receives abuse.
Whoever warns a wicked person gets hurt.
8 Do not warn a mocker, or he will hate you.
Warn a wise person, and he will love you.
9 Give ⌞advice⌟ to a wise person,
and he will become even wiser.
Teach a righteous person,
and he will learn more.
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
11 You will live longer because of me,
and years will be added to your life.
12 If you are wise, your wisdom will help you.
If you mock, you alone will be held responsible.
Stupidity Imitates Wisdom’s Banquet
13 The woman Stupidity is loud, gullible, and ignorant.
14 She sits at the doorway of her house.
She is enthroned on the high ground of the city
15 and calls to those who pass by,
those minding their own business,
16 “Whoever is gullible turn in here!”
She says to a person without sense,
17 “Stolen waters are sweet,
and food eaten in secret is tasty.”
18 But he does not know
that the souls of the dead are there,
that her guests are in the depths of hell.

(Q)and walk in the way of insight.”
7 Whoever corrects a scoffer gets himself abuse,
and he who reproves a wicked man incurs injury.
8 (R)Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you;
(S)reprove a wise man, and he will love you.
9 Give instruction[b] to a wise man, and he will be (T)still wiser;
teach a righteous man, and he will (U)increase in learning.
10 (V)The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
and (W)the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.

The Way of Folly
13 (Z)The woman Folly is (AA)loud;
she is seductive[c] and (AB)knows nothing.
14 She sits at the door of her house;
she takes a seat on (AC)the highest places of the town,
15 calling to those who pass by,
who are (AD)going straight on their way,
16 (AE)“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!”
And to him who lacks sense she says,
17 (AF)“Stolen water is sweet,
and (AG)bread eaten in secret is pleasant.”
18 But he does not know (AH)that the dead[d] are there,
that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.

3 She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,
4 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
5 Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.
6 Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.
7 He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.
8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
11 For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.
12 If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.
13 A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.
14 For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
15 To call passengers who go right on their ways:
16 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

9 La sabiduría edificó su casa,
Labró sus siete columnas.
2 Mató sus víctimas, mezcló su vino,
Y puso su mesa.
3 Envió sus criadas;
Sobre lo más alto de la ciudad clamó.
4 Dice a cualquier simple: Ven acá.
A los faltos de cordura dice:
5 Venid, comed mi pan,
Y bebed del vino que yo he mezclado.
6 Dejad las simplezas, y vivid,
Y andad por el camino de la inteligencia.
7 El que corrige al escarnecedor, se acarrea afrenta;
El que reprende al impío, se atrae mancha.
8 No reprendas al escarnecedor, para que no te aborrezca;
Corrige al sabio, y te amará.
9 Da al sabio, y será más sabio;
Enseña al justo, y aumentará su saber.
10 El temor de Jehová es el principio de la sabiduría,(A)
Y el conocimiento del Santísimo es la inteligencia.
11 Porque por mí se aumentarán tus días,
Y años de vida se te añadirán.
12 Si fueres sabio, para ti lo serás;
Y si fueres escarnecedor, pagarás tú solo.

Es simple e ignorante.
14 Se sienta en una silla a la puerta de su casa,
En los lugares altos de la ciudad,
15 Para llamar a los que pasan por el camino,
Que van por sus caminos derechos.
16 Dice a cualquier simple: Ven acá.

17 Las aguas hurtadas son dulces,
Y el pan comido en oculto es sabroso.

9 Премудрость построила себе дом, вытесала семь столбов его,
2 заколола жертву, растворила вино свое и приготовила у себя трапезу;
3 послала слуг своих провозгласить с возвышенностей городских:
4 'кто неразумен, обратись сюда!' И скудоумному она сказала:
5 'идите, ешьте хлеб мой и пейте вино, мною растворенное;
6 оставьте неразумие, и живите, и ходите путем разума'.
7 Поучающий кощунника наживет себе бесславие, и обличающий нечестивого--пятно себе.
8 Не обличай кощунника, чтобы он не возненавидел тебя; обличай мудрого, и он возлюбит тебя;
9 дай [наставление] мудрому, и он будет еще мудрее; научи правдивого, и он приумножит знание.
10 Начало мудрости--страх Господень, и познание Святаго--разум;
11 потому что чрез меня умножатся дни твои, и прибавится тебе лет жизни.
12 если ты мудр, то мудр для себя; и если буен, то один потерпишь.
13 Женщина безрассудная, шумливая, глупая и ничего не знающая
14 садится у дверей дома своего на стуле, на возвышенных местах города,
15 чтобы звать проходящих дорогою, идущих прямо своими путями:
16 'кто глуп, обратись сюда!' и скудоумному сказала она:

Jesus Knows Who Will Betray Him(A)
21 After saying this, Jesus was deeply troubled. He declared, “I can guarantee this truth: One of you is going to betray me!”
22 The disciples began looking at each other and wondering which one of them Jesus meant.
23 One disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, was near him at the table. 24 Simon Peter motioned to that disciple and said, “Ask Jesus whom he’s talking about!”
25 Leaning close to Jesus, that disciple asked, “Lord, who is it?”
26 Jesus answered, “He’s the one to whom I will give this piece of bread after I’ve dipped it in the sauce.” So Jesus dipped the bread and gave it to Judas, son of Simon Iscariot.
27 Then, after Judas took the piece of bread, Satan entered him. So Jesus told him, “Hurry! Do what you have to do.” 28 No one at the table knew why Jesus said this to him. 29 Judas had the moneybag. So some thought that Jesus was telling him to buy what they needed for the festival or to give something to the poor.
30 Judas took the piece of bread and immediately went outside. It was night.
31 When Judas was gone, Jesus said, “The Son of Man is now glorified, and because of him God is glorified. 32 If God is glorified because of the Son of Man, God will glorify the Son of Man because of himself, and he will glorify the Son of Man at once.”
Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial(B)
33 Jesus said, “Dear children, I will still be with you for a little while. I’m telling you what I told the Jews. You will look for me, but you can’t go where I’m going.
34 “I’m giving you a new commandment: Love each other in the same way that I have loved you. 35 Everyone will know that you are my disciples because of your love for each other.”
36 Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, where are you going?”
Jesus answered him, “You can’t follow me now to the place where I’m going. However, you will follow me later.”
37 Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I’ll give my life for you.”
38 Jesus replied, “Will you give your life for me? I can guarantee this truth: No rooster will crow until you say three times that you don’t know me.

A New Commandment

You will seek me, and just (X)as I said to the Jews, so now I also say to you, ‘Where I am going you cannot come.’ 34 (Y)A new commandment (Z)I give to you, (AA)that you love one another: (AB)just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 (AC)By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Jesus Foretells Peter's Denial
36 Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?” (AD)Jesus answered him, “Where I am going (AE)you cannot follow me now, (AF)but you will follow afterward.” 37 (AG)Peter said to him, “Lord, why can I not follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.” 38 Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me? Truly, truly, I say to you, (AH)the rooster will not crow till you have denied me three times.

21 Habiendo dicho Jesús esto, se conmovió en espíritu, y declaró y dijo: De cierto, de cierto os digo, que uno de vosotros me va a entregar. 22 Entonces los discípulos se miraban unos a otros, dudando de quién hablaba. 23 Y uno de sus discípulos, al cual Jesús amaba, estaba recostado al lado de Jesús. 24 A este, pues, hizo señas Simón Pedro, para que preguntase quién era aquel de quien hablaba. 25 Él entonces, recostado cerca del pecho de Jesús, le dijo: Señor, ¿quién es? 26 Respondió Jesús: A quien yo diere el pan mojado, aquel es. Y mojando el pan, lo dio a Judas Iscariote hijo de Simón. 27 Y después del bocado, Satanás entró en él. 24 Ему Симон Петр сделал знак, чтобы спросил, кто это, о котором говорит.
25 Он, припав к груди Иисуса, сказал Ему: Господи! кто это?
26 Иисус отвечал: тот, кому Я, обмакнув кусок хлеба, подам. И, обмакнув кусок, подал Иуде Симонову Искариоту.
27 И после сего куска вошел в него сатана. Тогда Иисус сказал ему: что делаешь, делай скорее.

34 Заповедь новую даю вам, да любите друг друга; как Я возлюбил вас, [так] и вы да любите друг друга.
35 По тому узнают все, что вы Мои ученики, если будете иметь любовь между собою.
36 Симон Петр сказал Ему: Господи! куда Ты идешь? Иисус отвечал ему: куда Я иду, ты не можешь теперь за Мною идти, а после пойдешь за Мною.
37 Петр сказал Ему: Господи! почему я не могу идти за Тобою теперь? я душу мою положу за Тебя.
38 Иисус отвечал ему: душу твою за Меня положишь? истинно, истинно говорю тебе: не пропоет петух, как отречешься от Меня трижды.
