13 A ^(A)wise son accepts his father’s discipline,
But a ^(B)scoffer does not listen to rebuke.

⁶ A scoffer seeks wisdom and finds none,
But knowledge is easy to one who has understanding.

¹² A ^(A)scoffer does not love one who reproves him,
He will not go to the wise.

⁵ He who mocks the ^(A)poor taunts his Maker;
He who ^(B)rejoices at calamity will not go unpunished.

^25 (A)Strike a scoffer and the ^[a]naive may become shrewd,
But ^(B)reprove one who has understanding and he will ^[b]gain knowledge.

²⁴ “Proud,” “Haughty,” “^(A)Scoffer,” are his names,
Who acts with ^(B)insolent pride.
