Proverbs 28:12-14

¹²When good people become leaders, everything is great, but when the wicked rise to power, everyone hides.

¹³Whoever hides their sins will not be successful, but whoever confesses their sins and stops doing wrong will receive mercy.

¹⁴People who respect others will be blessed, but stubborn people will have plenty of troubles.

New International Version

¹²When the righteous triumph, there is great elation;^(A)
but when the wicked rise to power, people go into hiding.^(B)

¹³Whoever conceals their sins^(C) does not prosper,
but the one who confesses^(D) and renounces them finds mercy.^(E)

¹⁴Blessed is the one who always trembles before God,
but whoever hardens their heart falls into trouble.
