Proverbs 17:23-25

²³A sinful man receives pay in secret to change the right way into wrong-doing.

²⁴Wisdom is with the one who has understanding, but the eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth.

²⁵A foolish son is a sorrow to his father, and trouble to her who gave birth to him.

²³The wicked accept bribes^(A) in secret
to pervert the course of justice.^(B)

²⁴A discerning person keeps wisdom in view,
but a fool’s eyes^(C) wander to the ends of the earth.

²⁵A foolish son brings grief to his father
and bitterness to the mother who bore him.^(D)
