^20 (A)Listen to counsel and receive discipline,
That you may be wise in ^[a]the end of your days.

²⁷ Cease listening, my son, to discipline,
And you will stray from the words of knowledge.

² The terror of a king is like the roar of a lion;
He who provokes him to anger ^(A)sins against his own soul.

⁶ Many a man will ^(A)call out his own lovingkindness,
But a ^(B)faithful man, who can find?

^8 (A)A king who sits on the throne of justice
^[a]Disperses all evil with his eyes.

¹¹ It is by his deeds that a young man ^(A)makes himself known
If his conduct is pure and right.

^30 (A)Stripes that wound scour away evil,
And strokes reach the ^[a]innermost parts of the body.

21 The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of Yahweh;
He ^(A)turns it wherever He pleases.

¹¹ He who loves ^(A)purity of heart
And ^(B)grace on his lips, the king is his friend.
