¹⁶ Do not listen to Hezekiah,’ for thus says the king of Assyria, ‘^[a]Make your peace with me and come out to me, and eat each of his ^(A)vine and each of his fig tree, and drink each of the ^(B)waters of his own cistern,

⁸ Now he who plants and he who waters are one, but each will ^(A)receive his own ^[a]reward according to his own labor.

⁷ Who at any time serves ^(A)as a soldier at his own expense? Who ^(B)plants a vineyard and does not ^[a]consume the fruit of it? Or who shepherds a flock and does not ^[b]consume the milk of the flock?

^6 (A)The hard-working farmer ought to be the first to receive his share of the crops.
