La Nuova Diodati
11 La bilancia falsa è un abominio per l'Eterno, ma il peso giusto gli è gradito.
2 Quando viene la superbia, viene anche il disonore; ma la sapienza è con gli umili.
3 L'integrità degli uomini retti li guida, ma la perversità dei perfidi li distruggerà.
4 Le ricchezze non giovano affatto nel giorno dell'ira, ma la giustizia salva da morte.
5 La giustizia dell'uomo integro gli appiana la via, ma l'empio cade per la sua empietà.
6 La giustizia degli uomini retti li libera, ma i perfidi saranno presi nella loro stessa malvagità.
7 Quando un empio muore, la sua speranza perisce, e l'attesa degli ingiusti svanisce.
8 Il giusto è liberato dall'avversità, ma l'empio ne prende il posto.
9 Con la sua bocca l'ipocrita manda in rovina il suo prossimo, ma i giusti sono liberati a motivo della loro conoscenza.
10 Quando i giusti prosperano, la città gioisce; ma quando periscono gli empi ci sono grida di gioia.
11 Per la benedizione degli uomini retti la città è innalzata, ma per la bocca degli empi va in rovina.
12 Chi disprezza il suo prossimo è privo di senno, ma l'uomo prudente tace.
13 Chi va in giro sparlando svela i segreti, ma chi ha lo spirito leale cela la cosa.
14 Senza una saggia guida il popolo cade, ma nel gran numero di consiglieri c'è salvezza.
15 Chi si fa garante per un estraneo ne soffrirà danno, ma chi rifiuta di dar la mano come garanzia è sicuro.
16 La donna graziosa ottiene la gloria, e gli uomini violenti ottengono ricchezze.
17 L'uomo misericordioso fa bene a se stesso, ma il crudele tormenta la sua stessa carne.
18 L'empio realizza un guadagno fallace, ma chi semina giustizia avrà una ricompensa sicura.
19 Come la giustizia conduce alla vita così chi va dietro al male si procura la morte.
20 I perversi di cuore sono un abominio per l'Eterno, ma quelli che sono integri nella loro condotta gli sono graditi.
21 Anche se stringe la mano ad un altro per un'alleanza, il malvagio non rimarrà impunito, ma la progenie dei giusti scamperà.
22 Come un anello d'oro nel grugno di un porco, cosí è una bella donna senza senno.
23 Il desiderio dei giusti è soltanto il bene, ma la speranza degli empi è l'ira.
24 C'è chi spande generosamente e diventa piú ricco, e c'è chi risparmia piú del necessario e diventa sempre piú povero.
25 La persona generosa si arricchirà e chi annaffia sarà egli pure annaffiato.
26 Il popolo maledice chi si rifiuta di dare il grano, ma la benedizione è sul capo di chi lo vende,
27 Chi cerca con diligenza il bene si attira benevolenza, ma chi cerca il male, questo gli verrà addosso.
28 Chi confida nelle sue ricchezze cadrà, ma i giusti sbocceranno come foglie.
29 Chi getta scompiglio in casa propria erediterà vento, e lo stolto sarà servo di chi è saggio di cuore.
30 Il frutto del giusto è un albero di vita, e chi fa conquista di anime è saggio.
31 Ecco, il giusto riceve la ricompensa sulla terra, tanto piú l'empio e il peccatore!

11 A false balance is abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is his delight.
2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.
3 The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.
4 Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.
5 The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.
6 The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.
7 When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.
8 The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.
9 An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.
10 When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.
11 By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
12 He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.
13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.
14 Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
15 He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.
16 A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.
17 The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.
18 The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.
19 As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.
20 They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the Lord: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.
21 Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
22 As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.
23 The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.
25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
26 He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.
27 He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.
28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.
29 He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.
30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.
31 Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.

Iba't ibang kawikaan. Pinagpaparis ang matuwid at ang masama.
11 Ang marayang (A)timbangan ay kasuklamsuklam sa Panginoon:
Nguni't ang ganap na timbangan ay kaniyang kaluguran.
2 Pagka dumarating ang kapalaluan ay dumarating nga ang kahihiyan:
Nguni't nasa mababa ang karunungan.
3 Ang pagtatapat ng mga matuwid ay papatnubay sa kanila:
Nguni't ang mga kasuwailan ng mga taksil ay papatay sa kanila.
4 Ang mga kayamanan ay (B)walang kabuluhan sa kaarawan ng poot:
Nguni't ang katuwiran ay nagliligtas sa kamatayan.
5 Ang katuwiran ng sakdal ay magtuturo ng kaniyang lakad:
Nguni't mabubuwal ang masama dahil sa kaniyang sariling kasamaan.
6 Ang katuwiran ng mga matuwid ay magliligtas sa kanila:
Nguni't (C)silang gumagawang may karayaan ay madadakip sa kanilang sariling kasamaan.
7 Pagka ang masamang tao ay namamatay, ang kaniyang pag-asa ay mapapasa pagkapahamak;
At ang pagasa ng masama ay nawawala.
8 (D)Ang matuwid ay naliligtas sa kabagabagan,
At ang masama ay dumarating na kahalili niya.
9 Pinapatay ng masama ng kaniyang bibig ang kaniyang kapuwa:
Nguni't sa kaalaman ay maliligtas ang matuwid.
10 (E)Pagka napapabuti ang mga matuwid ang bayan ay nagagalak:
At pagka ang masama ay namamatay, may hiyawan.
11 Nabubunyi ang bayan (F)sa pamamagitan ng pagpapala ng matuwid:
Nguni't napapahamak sa pamamagitan ng bibig ng masama.
12 Siyang humahamak sa kaniyang kapuwa ay walang karunungan:
Nguni't ang taong naguunawa ay tumatahimik.
13 (G)Siyang yumayaong mapaghatid dumapit ay naghahayag ng mga lihim:
Nguni't ang may diwang tapat ay nagtatakip ng bagay.
14 (H)Kung saan walang pantas na pamamahala, ang bayan ay nababagsak:
Nguni't sa karamihan ng mga tagapayo ay may kagalingan.
15 (I)Siyang nananagot sa di kilala, ay mapapariwara:
Nguni't siyang nagtatanim sa pananagot ay tiwasay.
16 Ang mapagbiyayang babae ay nagiimpok ng karangalan:
At ang marahas na lalake ay pumipigil ng kayamanan.
17 Ang maawaing tao ay gumagawa ng mabuti (J)sa kaniyang sariling kaluluwa:
Nguni't ang taksil ay bumabagabag sa kaniyang sariling laman.
18 Ang masama ay nakikinabang ng mga marayang sahod:
Nguni't (K)ang naghahasik ng katuwiran ay nagtatamo ng tiwasay na ganting pala.
19 Siyang matatag sa katuwiran ay magtatamo ng buhay:
(L)At siyang humahabol ng kasamaan ay sa kaniyang sariling ikamamatay.
20 Silang suwail sa puso ay kasuklamsuklam sa Panginoon:
Nguni't ang gayong sakdal sa kanilang lakad ay kaniyang kaluguran.
21 (M)Bagaman ang kamay ay makikikamay, ang masamang tao ay walang pagsalang parurusahan:
Nguni't ang binhi ng matuwid ay maliligtas.
22 Kung paano ang hiyas na ginto sa nguso ng baboy,
Gayon ang magandang babae na walang bait.
23 Ang nasa ng matuwid ay buti lamang:
Nguni't ang hintay ng masama ay poot.
24 May (N)nagsasabog, at tumutubo pa,
At may humahawak naman ng higit kay sa karampatan, nguni't nauuwi lamang sa pangangailangan.
25 (O)Ang kaluluwang mapagbigay ay tataba:
(P)At siyang dumidilig ay madidilig din.
26 (Q)Siyang humahawak ng trigo ay susumpain siya ng bayan:
Nguni't kapurihan ay mapapasaulo niya na nagbibili niyaon.
27 Siyang humahanap na masikap ng mabuti ay humahanap ng lingap:
(R)Nguni't siyang kumakatha ng sama ay sa kaniya lalagpak.
28 (S)Siyang tumitiwala sa kaniyang mga kayamanan ay mabubuwal:
(T)Nguni't ang matuwid ay mamumukadkad na parang sariwang dahon.
29 Siyang bumabagabag ng kaniyang sariling sangbahayan ay (U)magmamana ng hangin:
At ang mangmang ay magiging alipin ng pantas sa puso.
30 Ang bunga ng matuwid ay punong kahoy ng buhay;
At (V)siyang pantas ay humihikayat ng mga kaluluwa.
31 (W)Narito, ang matuwid ay gagantihin sa lupa:
Gaano pa nga kaya ang masama at makasalanan!

3 The integrity of the upright guides them,
but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.(E)
5 The righteousness of the blameless makes their paths straight,(I)
but the wicked are brought down by their own wickedness.(J)
6 The righteousness of the upright delivers them,
but the unfaithful are trapped by evil desires.(K)
8 The righteous person is rescued from trouble,
and it falls on the wicked instead.(N)
9 With their mouths the godless destroy their neighbors,
but through knowledge the righteous escape.(O)
10 When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices;(P)
when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy.(Q)
11 Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted,(R)
but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed.(S)
12 Whoever derides their neighbor has no sense,(T)
but the one who has understanding holds their tongue.(U)
15 Whoever puts up security(Z) for a stranger will surely suffer,
but whoever refuses to shake hands in pledge is safe.(AA)
16 A kindhearted woman gains honor,(AB)
but ruthless men gain only wealth.
17 Those who are kind benefit themselves,
but the cruel bring ruin on themselves.
18 A wicked person earns deceptive wages,
but the one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.(AC)
20 The Lord detests those whose hearts are perverse,(AF)
but he delights(AG) in those whose ways are blameless.(AH)
21 Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished,
but those who are righteous will go free.(AI)
22 Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout
is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion.
23 The desire of the righteous ends only in good,
but the hope of the wicked only in wrath.
24 One person gives freely, yet gains even more;
another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.
26 People curse the one who hoards grain,
but they pray God’s blessing on the one who is willing to sell.
27 Whoever seeks good finds favor,
but evil comes to one who searches for it.(AL)
28 Those who trust in their riches will fall,(AM)
but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.(AN)
29 Whoever brings ruin on their family will inherit only wind,
and the fool will be servant to the wise.(AO)
30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,(AP)
and the one who is wise saves lives.
31 If the righteous receive their due(AQ) on earth,
how much more the ungodly and the sinner!
