⁹ Enjoy life with the wife whom you love, all the days of your ^(A)vain^[a] life that he has given you under the sun, because that is your ^(B)portion in life and in your toil at which you toil under the sun.

^14 (A)But you say, “Why does he not?” Because the Lord ^(B)was witness between you and the wife of your youth, ^(C)to whom ^(D)you have been faithless, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant. ^15 (E)Did he not make them one, with a portion of the Spirit in their union?^[a] And what was the one God^[b] seeking?^{[c] (F)}Godly offspring. So guard yourselves^[d] in your spirit, and let none of you be ^(G)faithless to the wife of your youth.
