⁸ But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself ^(A)with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. ⁹ Now ^(B)God had brought Daniel into the favor and ^[a]goodwill of the chief of the eunuchs. ¹⁰ And the chief of the eunuchs said to Daniel, “I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your food and drink. For why should he see your faces looking worse than the young men who are your age? Then you would endanger my head before the king.”

⁹ Beware lest there be a wicked thought in your heart, saying, ‘The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,’ and your ^(A)eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing, and ^(B)he cry out to the Lord against you, and ^(C)it become sin among you.

^15 (A)Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or ^(B)is your eye evil because I am good?’

⁵⁶ The ^[a]tender and ^[b]delicate woman among you, who would not venture to set the sole of her foot on the ground because of her delicateness and sensitivity, ^[c]will refuse to the husband of her bosom, and to her son and her daughter,

²² thefts, ^(A)covetousness, wickedness, ^(B)deceit, ^(C)lewdness, an evil eye, ^(D)blasphemy, ^(E)pride, foolishness.
