Philippians 4
Contemporary English Version
4 Dear friends, I love you and long to see you. Please keep on being faithful to the Lord. You are my pride and joy.
Paul Encourages the Lord's Followers
2 Euodia and Syntyche, you belong to the Lord, so I beg you to stop arguing with each other. 3 And, my true partner,[a] I ask you to help them. These women have worked together with me and with Clement and with the others in spreading the good news. Their names are now written in the book of life.[b]
4 Always be glad because of the Lord! I will say it again: Be glad. 5 Always be gentle with others. The Lord will soon be here. 6 Don't worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God. 7 Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel.
8 Finally, my friends, keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don't ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise. 9 You know the teachings I gave you, and you know what you heard me say and saw me do. So follow my example. And God, who gives peace, will be with you.
Paul Gives Thanks for the Gifts He Was Given
10 The Lord has made me very grateful that at last you have thought about me once again. Actually, you were thinking about me all along, but you didn't have any chance to show it. 11 I am not complaining about having too little. I have learned to be satisfied with[c] whatever I have. 12 I know what it is to be poor or to have plenty, and I have lived under all kinds of conditions. I know what it means to be full or to be hungry, to have too much or too little. 13 Christ gives me the strength to face anything.
14 It was good of you to help me when I was having such a hard time. 15 (A) My friends at Philippi, you remember what it was like when I started preaching the good news in Macedonia.[d] After I left there, you were the only church that became my partner by giving blessings and by receiving them in return. 16 (B) Even when I was in Thessalonica, you helped me more than once. 17 I am not trying to get something from you, but I want you to receive the blessings that come from giving.
18 (C) I have been paid back everything, and with interest. I am completely satisfied with the gifts you sent with Epaphroditus. They are like a sweet-smelling offering or like the right kind of sacrifice that pleases God. 19 I pray that God will take care of all your needs with the wonderful blessings that come from Christ Jesus! 20 May God our Father be praised forever and ever. Amen.

21 Give my greetings to all who are God's people because of Christ Jesus.

4 Así que, hermanos míos, amados y añorados(A), gozo y corona mía, estén así firmes en el Señor(B), amados.
2 Ruego a Evodia y a Síntique, que vivan en armonía(C) en el Señor. 3 En verdad, fiel compañero, también te ruego que ayudes a estas mujeres que han compartido mis luchas en la causa del evangelio, junto con Clemente y los demás colaboradores míos(D), cuyos nombres están en el libro de la vida(E).
4 Regocíjense en el Señor(F) siempre. Otra vez lo diré: ¡Regocíjense! 5 La bondad de ustedes sea conocida de todos los hombres. El Señor está cerca(G). 6 Por nada estén afanosos(H); antes bien, en todo, mediante oración y súplica con acción de gracias, sean dadas a conocer sus peticiones delante de Dios(I). 7 Y la paz de Dios(J), que sobrepasa todo entendimiento[a], guardará(K) sus corazones y sus mentes(L) en Cristo Jesús(M).
El secreto de la paz
8 Por lo demás, hermanos, todo lo que es verdadero, todo lo digno, todo lo justo, todo lo puro, todo lo amable, todo lo honorable[b], si hay alguna virtud o algo que merece elogio, en esto mediten(N). 9 Lo que también han aprendido y recibido y oído y visto en mí(O), esto practiquen, y el Dios de paz estará con ustedes(P).

10 Me alegré grandemente en el Señor de que ya al fin han reavivado su cuidado para conmigo. En verdad, antes se preocupaban, pero les faltaba la oportunidad(Q). 11 No que hable porque tenga escasez[c], pues he aprendido a contentarme(R) cualquiera que sea mi situación.
12 Sé vivir en pobreza[d], y sé vivir en prosperidad. En todo y por todo he aprendido el secreto tanto de estar saciado como de tener hambre(S), de tener abundancia como de sufrir necesidad(T). 13 Todo lo puedo en Cristo[e] que me fortalece(U). 14 Sin embargo, han hecho bien en compartir conmigo en mi aflicción(V).
15 Ustedes mismos también saben, filipenses, que al comienzo de la predicación del evangelio(W), después que partí de Macedonia(X), ninguna iglesia compartió conmigo en cuestión de dar y recibir, sino solamente ustedes(Y). 16 Porque aun a Tesalónica(Z) enviaron dádivas más de una vez para mis necesidades.
17 No es que busque la dádiva en sí, sino que busco fruto que aumente en su cuenta(AA). 18 Pero lo he recibido todo y tengo abundancia. Estoy bien abastecido[f], habiendo recibido de Epafrodito(AB) lo que han enviado[g]: fragante aroma[h](AC), sacrificio aceptable, agradable a Dios. 19 Y mi Dios proveerá a todas sus necesidades(AD), conforme a sus riquezas(AE) en gloria en Cristo Jesús. 20 A nuestro Dios y Padre(AF) sea la gloria por los siglos de los siglos(AG). Amén.

Be Anxious for Nothing; Think These Thoughts
4 Therefore, my beloved and (A)longed-for brethren, (B)my joy and crown, so (C)stand fast in the Lord, beloved.
Be United, Joyful, and in Prayer
2 I implore Euodia and I implore Syntyche (D)to be of the same mind in the Lord. 3 [a]And I urge you also, true companion, help these women who (E)labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in (F)the Book of Life.
4 (G)Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!
5 Let your [b]gentleness be known to all men. (H)The Lord is at hand.
6 (I)Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with (J)thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and (K)the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Meditate on These Things
8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are (L)true, whatever things are (M)noble, whatever things are (N)just, (O)whatever things are pure, whatever things are (P)lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and (Q)the God of peace will be with you.
Philippian Generosity
10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last (R)your[c] care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity. 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, (S)to be content: 12 (T)I know how to [d]be abased, and I know how to [e]abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things (U)through [f]Christ who strengthens me.
14 Nevertheless you have done well that (V)you shared in my distress. 15 Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, (W)no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only. 16 For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities. 17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek (X)the fruit that abounds to your account. 18 Indeed I [g]have all and abound. I am full, having received from (Y)Epaphroditus the things sent from you, (Z)a sweet-smelling aroma, (AA)an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God. 19 And my God (AB)shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. 20 (AC)Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Greeting and Blessing
21 Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren (AD)who are with me greet you. 22 All the saints greet you, but especially those who are of Caesar’s household.
