^15 (A)Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will.

Final Instructions and Greetings

¹⁷ I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles ^(A)contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; ^(B)avoid them. ¹⁸ For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but ^(C)their own appetites,^[a] and ^(D)by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.

³ Do nothing from ^(A)selfish ambition or ^(B)conceit, but in ^(C)humility count others more significant than yourselves.

¹³ For such men are ^(A)false apostles, ^(B)deceitful workmen, ^(C)disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.

^2 (A)shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight,^{[a] (B)}not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you;^{[b] (C)}not for shameful gain, but eagerly; ³ not ^(D)domineering over those in your charge, but ^(E)being examples to the flock. ⁴ And when ^(F)the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the ^(G)unfading ^(H)crown of glory.

¹⁶ The latter do it out of love, ^(A)knowing that I am put here for ^(B)the defense of the gospel. ¹⁷ The former proclaim Christ ^(C)out of selfish ambition, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment. ¹⁸ What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice.

To Live Is Christ

Yes, and I will rejoice,

⁵ For what ^(A)we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ^(B)ourselves as your servants^[a] for Jesus' sake.

¹⁹ For ^(A)the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we proclaimed among you, ^(B)Silvanus and Timothy and I, was not Yes and No, but ^(C)in him it is always Yes.

³ for you are still of the flesh. For while there is ^(A)jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way? ⁴ For ^(B)when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” ^(C)are you not being merely human?
