²⁶ so that through my being with you again your boasting in Christ Jesus will abound on account of me.

¹² We are not trying to commend ourselves to you again,^(A) but are giving you an opportunity to take pride in us,^(B) so that you can answer those who take pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart.

¹⁴ as you have understood us in part, you will come to understand fully that you can boast of us just as we will boast of you in the day of the Lord Jesus.^(A)

Thanks for Their Gifts

¹⁰ I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me.^(A) Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it.

Final Exhortations

⁴ Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!^(A)

³ For it is we who are the circumcision,^(A) we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus,^(B) and who put no confidence in the flesh—

No Confidence in the Flesh

3 Further, my brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord! It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again,^(A) and it is a safeguard for you.

¹⁶ as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ^(A) that I did not run^(B) or labor in vain.^{(C) 17} But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering^(D) on the sacrifice^(E) and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.^{(F) 18} So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.

⁶ But God, who comforts the downcast,^(A) comforted us by the coming of Titus,^(B)

²⁴ Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive,^(A) and your joy will be complete.^(B)
