⁷Where can I go from your Spirit?
    Where can I flee^(A) from your presence?
⁸If I go up to the heavens,^(B) you are there;
    if I make my bed^(C) in the depths, you are there.
⁹If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
    if I settle on the far side of the sea,
¹⁰even there your hand will guide me,^(D)
    your right hand^(E) will hold me fast.
¹¹If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
    and the light become night around me,”
¹²even the darkness will not be dark^(F) to you;
    the night will shine like the day,
    for darkness is as light to you.

The Parable of the Lost Sheep^(A)

15 Now the tax collectors^(B) and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus. ²But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”^(C)

³Then Jesus told them this parable:^(D) ⁴“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?^(E) ⁵And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders ⁶and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’^(F) ⁷I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.^(G)

More Than Conquerors

³¹What, then, shall we say in response to these things?^(A) If God is for us,^(B) who can be against us?^(C) ³²He who did not spare his own Son,^(D) but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? ³³Who will bring any charge^(E) against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. ³⁴Who then is the one who condemns?^(F) No one. Christ Jesus who died^(G)—more than that, who was raised to life^(H)—is at the right hand of God^(I) and is also interceding for us.^(J) ³⁵Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?^(K) Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?^(L) ³⁶As it is written:

“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”^[a]^(M)

³⁷No, in all these things we are more than conquerors^(N) through him who loved us.^(O) ³⁸For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,^[b] neither the present nor the future,^(P) nor any powers,^(Q) ³⁹neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God^(R) that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.^(S)
