10 Detta är Salomos ordspråk:
En vis son gläder sin far,
en dåraktig son är sin mors sorg.
2 Orätt vinning är till ingen nytta,
men rättfärdighet räddar från döden.
3 Herren låter ej den rättfärdiges själ hungra,
men de ondas begär avvisar han.
4 Lat hand gör fattig man,
flitig hand ger rikedom.
5 En förståndig son samlar in om sommaren,
en vanartig son sover i skördetiden.
6 Välsignelser är på den rättfärdiges huvud,
våld täcker de ogudaktigas mun.
7 Den rättfärdiges minne blir till välsignelse,
de ogudaktigas namn multnar bort.
8 Ett vist hjärta tar emot tillsägelser,
oförnuftiga läppar leder till fall.
9 Den som lever ostraffligt vandrar trygg,
den som går orätta vägar blir avslöjad.
10 Den som blinkar med ögonen vållar smärta,
den som har oförnuftiga läppar kommer på fall.
11 Den rättfärdiges mun är en källa till liv,
våld täcker de ogudaktigas mun.
12 Hat väcker upp trätor,
kärlek skyler allt som är brutet.
13 På den klokes läppar finner man vishet,
till dårens rygg hör ris.
14 De visa samlar på kunskap,
den oförnuftiges mun bjuder in olycka.
15 Den rikes välstånd är hans fästning,
de armas fattigdom deras fördärv.
16 Den rättfärdiges arbete leder till liv,
den ogudaktiges vinning leder till synd.
17 Att ta vara på förmaning är vägen till livet,
den som föraktar tillrättavisning far vilse.
18 Den som döljer hat har falska läppar,
den som sprider förtal är en dåre.
19 Där orden är många uteblir inte synd,
vis är den som styr sina läppar.
20 Den rättfärdiges tunga är utvalt silver,
de ogudaktigas hjärtan har ringa värde.
21 Den rättfärdiges läppar föder många,
oförnuftiga dör av brist på förstånd.
22 Herrens välsignelse ger rikedom,
egen möda lägger inget därtill.
23 Dårens glädje är att göra det skamliga,
den förståndiges är att vara vis.
24 Den ogudaktige drabbas av det han fruktar,
vad de rättfärdiga begär blir dem givet.
25 När stormen kommer är det ute med den ogudaktige,
den rättfärdige har en evig grundval.
26 Som syra för tänderna och rök för ögonen
är den late för den som sänder honom.
27 Herrens fruktan förlänger livet,
men de ogudaktigas år blir förkortade.
28 De rättfärdigas väntan får en glad fullbordan,
de ogudaktigas hopp blir till intet.
29 Herrens väg är den ostraffliges värn,
men till olycka för ogärningsmän.
30 Den rättfärdige skall aldrig vackla,
men de ogudaktiga får inte bo i landet.
31 Ur den rättfärdiges mun flödar vishet,
men en vilseledande tunga skall huggas av.
32 Den rättfärdiges läppar förstår vad som är välbehagligt,
de ogudaktigas mun förvränger allt.

10 The proverbs(A) of Solomon:(B)
A wise son brings joy to his father,(C)
but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.
5 He who gathers crops in summer is a prudent son,
but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.(J)
8 The wise in heart accept commands,
but a chattering fool comes to ruin.(O)
9 Whoever walks in integrity(P) walks securely,(Q)
but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.(R)
10 Whoever winks maliciously(S) causes grief,
and a chattering fool comes to ruin.
11 The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life,(T)
but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.(U)
12 Hatred stirs up conflict,
but love covers over all wrongs.(V)
13 Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning,(W)
but a rod is for the back of one who has no sense.(X)
17 Whoever heeds discipline shows the way to life,(AE)
but whoever ignores correction leads others astray.
18 Whoever conceals hatred with lying lips(AF)
and spreads slander is a fool.
19 Sin is not ended by multiplying words,
but the prudent hold their tongues.(AG)
20 The tongue of the righteous is choice silver,
but the heart of the wicked is of little value.
21 The lips of the righteous nourish many,
but fools die for lack of sense.(AH)
23 A fool finds pleasure in wicked schemes,(AL)
but a person of understanding delights in wisdom.
28 The prospect of the righteous is joy,
but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing.(AV)
29 The way of the Lord is a refuge for the blameless,
but it is the ruin of those who do evil.(AW)
30 The righteous will never be uprooted,
but the wicked will not remain in the land.(AX)

But a foolish son is the grief of his mother.
2 (C)Treasures of wickedness profit nothing,
(D)But righteousness delivers from death.
3 (E)The Lord will not allow the righteous soul to famish,
But He casts away the desire of the wicked.
4 (F)He who has a slack hand becomes poor,
But (G)the hand of the diligent makes rich.
5 He who gathers in (H)summer is a wise son;
He who sleeps in harvest is (I)a son who causes shame.
6 Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
7 (J)The memory of the righteous is blessed,
But the name of the wicked will rot.
9 (L)He who walks with integrity walks securely,
But he who perverts his ways will become known.
10 He who winks with the eye causes trouble,
But a prating fool will fall.
11 The mouth of the righteous is a well of life,
But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
12 Hatred stirs up strife,

13 Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has understanding,

14 Wise people store up knowledge,

The wages of the wicked to sin.
17 He who keeps instruction is in the way of life,

But (U)he who restrains his lips is wise.
20 The tongue of the righteous is choice silver;
The heart of the wicked is worth little.
21 The lips of the righteous feed many,
But fools die for lack of [e]wisdom.
22 (V)The blessing of the Lord makes one rich,
And He adds no sorrow with it.
23 (W)To do evil is like sport to a fool,
But a man of understanding has wisdom.
24 (X)The fear of the wicked will come upon him,
And (Y)the desire of the righteous will be granted.
25 When the whirlwind passes by, (Z)the wicked is no more,
But (AA)the righteous has an everlasting foundation.
26 As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes,
So is the lazy man to those who send him.
27 (AB)The fear of the Lord prolongs days,
But (AC)the years of the wicked will be shortened.
28 The hope of the righteous will be gladness,
But the (AD)expectation of the wicked will perish.
29 The way of the Lord is strength for the upright,
But (AE)destruction will come to the workers of iniquity.
30 (AF)The righteous will never be removed,
But the wicked will not inhabit the [f]earth.

But the perverse tongue will be cut out.
