Johannes ontvangt het boek
10 Toen zag ik een andere machtige engel uit de hemel komen. Hij was gehuld in een wolk en had een regenboog rondom zijn hoofd. 2 Zijn gezicht straalde als de zon en zijn benen leken op zuilen van vuur. In zijn hand hield hij een open boek. Hij zette zijn rechtervoet op de zee en zijn linkervoet op het land. 3 Hij riep krachtig, zo luid als een brullende leeuw, en toen hij dat deed, lieten de zeven donderslagen hun stem horen.
4 Ik wilde opschrijven wat de zeven donderslagen hadden gezegd, maar een stem uit de hemel zei: ‘Houd geheim wat de donderslagen hebben gezegd. Schrijf het niet op.’
5 De engel die ik op de zee en het land zag staan, stak zijn rechterhand omhoog naar de hemel. 6 Hij zwoer bij Hem die altijd en eeuwig leeft, die de hemel, de aarde en de zee, met al hun bewoners gemaakt heeft en zei: 7 ‘Van uitstel is geen sprake meer. Als de zevende engel op zijn bazuin blaast, zal God zijn verborgen plan uitvoeren, zoals Hij zijn dienaren, de profeten, beloofd had.’
8 De stem uit de hemel die ik eerder gehoord had, zei: ‘Ga het boek halen dat openligt in de hand van de engel die op de zee en het land staat.’ 9 Ik ging naar de engel toe en vroeg hem mij het boek te geven. ‘Hier,’ zei hij, ‘eet het op. Het zal u zwaar op de maag liggen, maar in uw mond zo zoet zijn als honing.’ 10 Ik nam het boek aan van de engel en at het op. Het was inderdaad zoet als honing, maar het lag me zwaar op de maag. 11 Iemand zei tegen mij: ‘U zult nóg eens moeten profeteren over vele volken, naties, taalgroepen en koningen.’

The Angel and the Little Scroll
10 Then I saw another mighty angel(A) coming down from heaven.(B) He was robed in a cloud, with a rainbow(C) above his head; his face was like the sun,(D) and his legs were like fiery pillars.(E) 2 He was holding a little scroll,(F) which lay open in his hand. He planted his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land,(G) 3 and he gave a loud shout like the roar of a lion.(H) When he shouted, the voices of the seven thunders(I) spoke. 4 And when the seven thunders spoke, I was about to write;(J) but I heard a voice from heaven(K) say, “Seal up what the seven thunders have said and do not write it down.”(L)
5 Then the angel I had seen standing on the sea and on the land(M) raised his right hand to heaven.(N) 6 And he swore(O) by him who lives for ever and ever,(P) who created the heavens and all that is in them, the earth and all that is in it, and the sea and all that is in it,(Q) and said, “There will be no more delay!(R) 7 But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet,(S) the mystery(T) of God will be accomplished, just as he announced to his servants the prophets.”(U)
8 Then the voice that I had heard from heaven(V) spoke to me once more: “Go, take the scroll(W) that lies open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land.”
9 So I went to the angel and asked him to give me the little scroll. He said to me, “Take it and eat it. It will turn your stomach sour, but ‘in your mouth it will be as sweet as honey.’[a]”(X) 10 I took the little scroll from the angel’s hand and ate it. It tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth,(Y) but when I had eaten it, my stomach turned sour. 11 Then I was told, “You must prophesy(Z) again about many peoples, nations, languages and kings.”(AA)

El ángel y el rollo pequeño
10 Después vi a otro ángel poderoso que bajaba del cielo envuelto en una nube. Un arcoíris rodeaba su cabeza; su rostro era como el sol y sus piernas parecían columnas de fuego. 2 Llevaba en la mano un pequeño rollo escrito que estaba abierto. Puso el pie derecho sobre el mar y el izquierdo sobre la tierra 3 y dio un grito tan fuerte que parecía el rugido de un león. Entonces los siete truenos levantaron también sus voces. 4 Una vez que hablaron los siete truenos, estaba yo por escribir, pero oí una voz del cielo que me decía: «Guarda en secreto lo que han dicho los siete truenos y no lo escribas».
5 El ángel que yo había visto de pie sobre el mar y sobre la tierra levantó al cielo su mano derecha 6 y juró por el que vive por los siglos de los siglos, el que creó el cielo, la tierra, el mar y todo lo que hay en ellos y dijo: «¡El tiempo ha terminado! 7 En los días en que hable el séptimo ángel, cuando comience a tocar su trompeta, se cumplirá el misterio de Dios, tal y como lo anunció a sus siervos los profetas».
8 La voz del cielo que yo había escuchado se dirigió a mí de nuevo: «Acércate al ángel que está de pie sobre el mar y sobre la tierra y toma el rollo que tiene abierto en la mano».
9 Me acerqué al ángel y le pedí que me diera el rollo. Él me dijo: «Tómalo y cómetelo. Te amargará las entrañas, pero en la boca te sabrá dulce como la miel». 10 Lo tomé de la mano del ángel y me lo comí. Me supo dulce como la miel, pero al comérmelo se me amargaron las entrañas. 11 Entonces me ordenó: «Tienes que volver a profetizar acerca de muchos pueblos, naciones, lenguas y reyes».

2 And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,
3 And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.
4 And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.
5 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,
6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:
7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.
8 And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.
9 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.
10 And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.
