民 數 記 11

11 众 百 姓 发 怨 言 ， 他 们 的 恶 语 达 到 耶 和 华 的 耳 中 。 耶 和 华 听 见 了 就 怒 气 发 作 ， 使 火 在 他 们 中 间 焚 烧 ， 直 烧 到 营 的 边 界 。

2 百 姓 向 摩 西 哀 求 ， 摩 西 祈 求 耶 和 华 ， 火 就 熄 了 。

3 那 地 方 便 叫 做 他 备 拉 ， 因 为 耶 和 华 的 火 烧 在 他 们 中 间 。

4 他 们 中 间 的 ? 杂 人 大 起 贪 欲 的 心 ； 以 色 列 人 又 哭 号 说 ： 谁 给 我 们 肉 吃 呢 ？

5 我 们 记 得 ， 在 埃 及 的 时 候 不 花 钱 就 吃 鱼 ， 也 记 得 有 黄 瓜 、 西 瓜 、 韭 菜 、 葱 、 蒜 。

6 现 在 我 们 的 心 血 枯 竭 了 ， 除 这 吗 哪 以 外 ， 在 我 们 眼 前 并 没 有 别 的 东 西 。

7 这 吗 哪 彷 佛 芫 荽 子 ， 又 好 像 珍 珠 。

8 百 姓 周 围 行 走 ， 把 吗 哪 收 起 来 ， 或 用 磨 推 ， 或 用 臼 捣 ， 煮 在 锅 中 ， 又 做 成 饼 ， 滋 味 好 像 新 油 。

9 夜 间 露 水 降 在 营 中 ， 吗 哪 也 随 着 降 下 。

10 摩 西 听 见 百 姓 ， 各 在 各 家 的 帐 棚 门 口 哭 号 。 耶 和 华 的 怒 气 便 大 发 作 ， 摩 西 就 不 喜 悦 。

11 摩 西 对 耶 和 华 说 ： 你 为 何 苦 待 仆 人 ？ 我 为 何 不 在 你 眼 前 蒙 恩 ， 竟 把 这 管 理 百 姓 的 重 任 加 在 我 身 上 呢 ？

12 这 百 姓 岂 是 我 怀 的 胎 ， 岂 是 我 生 下 来 的 呢 ？ 你 竟 对 我 说 ： 把 他 们 抱 在 怀 里 ， 如 养 育 之 父 抱 吃 奶 的 孩 子 ， 直 抱 到 你 起 誓 应 许 给 他 们 祖 宗 的 地 去 。

13 我 从 那 里 得 肉 给 这 百 姓 吃 呢 ？ 他 们 都 向 我 哭 号 说 ： 你 给 我 们 肉 吃 罢 ！

14 管 理 这 百 姓 的 责 任 太 重 了 ， 我 独 自 担 当 不 起 。

15 你 这 样 待 我 ， 我 若 在 你 眼 前 蒙 恩 ， 求 你 立 时 将 我 杀 了 ， 不 叫 我 见 自 己 的 苦 情 。

16 耶 和 华 对 摩 西 说 ： 你 从 以 色 列 的 长 老 中 招 聚 七 十 个 人 ， 就 是 你 所 知 道 作 百 姓 的 长 老 和 官 长 的 ， 到 我 这 里 来 ， 领 他 们 到 会 幕 前 ， 使 他 们 和 你 一 同 站 立 。

17 我 要 在 那 里 降 临 ， 与 你 说 话 ， 也 要 把 降 於 你 身 上 的 灵 分 赐 他 们 ， 他 们 就 和 你 同 当 这 管 百 姓 的 重 任 ， 免 得 你 独 自 担 当 。

18 又 要 对 百 姓 说 ： 你 们 应 当 自 洁 ， 预 备 明 天 吃 肉 ， 因 为 你 们 哭 号 说 ： 谁 给 我 们 肉 吃 ！ 我 们 在 埃 及 很 好 。 这 声 音 达 到 了 耶 和 华 的 耳 中 ， 所 以 他 必 给 你 们 肉 吃 。

19 你 们 不 止 吃 一 天 、 两 天 、 五 天 、 十 天 、 二 十 天 ，

20 要 吃 一 个 整 月 ， 甚 至 肉 从 你 们 鼻 孔 里 喷 出 来 ， 使 你 们 厌 恶 了 ， 因 为 你 们 厌 弃 住 在 你 们 中 间 的 耶 和 华 ， 在 他 面 前 哭 号 说 ： 我 们 为 何 出 了 埃 及 呢 ？

21 摩 西 对 耶 和 华 说 ： 这 与 我 同 住 的 百 姓 、 步 行 的 男 人 有 六 十 万 ， 你 还 说 ： 我 要 把 肉 给 他 们 ， 使 他 们 可 以 吃 一 个 整 月 。

22 难 道 给 他 们 宰 了 羊 群 牛 群 ， 或 是 把 海 中 所 有 的 鱼 都 聚 了 来 ， 就 够 他 们 吃 麽 ？

23 耶 和 华 对 摩 西 说 ： 耶 和 华 的 膀 臂 岂 是 缩 短 了 麽 ？ 现 在 要 看 我 的 话 向 你 应 验 不 应 验 。

24 摩 西 出 去 ， 将 耶 和 华 的 话 告 诉 百 姓 ， 又 招 聚 百 姓 的 长 老 中 七 十 个 人 来 ， 使 他 们 站 在 会 幕 的 四 围 。

25 耶 和 华 在 云 中 降 临 ， 对 摩 西 说 话 ， 把 降 与 他 身 上 的 灵 分 赐 那 七 十 个 长 老 。 灵 停 在 他 们 身 上 的 时 候 ， 他 们 就 受 感 说 话 ， 以 後 却 没 有 再 说 。

26 但 有 两 个 人 仍 在 营 里 ， 一 个 名 叫 伊 利 达 ， 一 个 名 叫 米 达 。 他 们 本 是 在 那 些 被 录 的 人 中 ， 却 没 有 到 会 幕 那 里 去 。 灵 停 在 他 们 身 上 ， 他 们 就 在 营 里 说 预 言 。

27 有 个 少 年 人 跑 来 告 诉 摩 西 说 ： 伊 利 达 、 米 达 在 营 里 说 预 言 。

28 摩 西 的 帮 手 ， 嫩 的 儿 子 约 书 亚 ， 就 是 摩 西 所 拣 选 的 一 个 人 ， 说 ： 请 我 主 摩 西 禁 止 他 们 。

29 摩 西 对 他 说 ： 你 为 我 的 缘 故 嫉 妒 人 麽 ？ 惟 愿 耶 和 华 的 百 姓 都 受 感 说 话 ！ 愿 耶 和 华 把 他 的 灵 降 在 他 们 身 上 ！

30 於 是 ， 摩 西 和 以 色 列 的 长 老 都 回 到 营 里 去 了 。

31 有 风 从 耶 和 华 那 里 刮 起 ， 把 鹌 鹑 由 海 面 刮 来 ， 飞 散 在 营 边 和 营 的 四 围 ； 这 边 约 有 一 天 的 路 程 ， 那 边 约 有 一 天 的 路 程 ， 离 地 面 约 有 二 肘 。

32 百 姓 起 来 ， 终 日 终 夜 ， 并 次 日 一 整 天 ， 捕 取 鹌 鹑 ； 至 少 的 也 取 了 十 贺 梅 珥 ， 为 自 己 摆 列 在 营 的 四 围 。

33 肉 在 他 们 牙 齿 之 间 尚 未 嚼 烂 ， 耶 和 华 的 怒 气 就 向 他 们 发 作 ， 用 最 重 的 灾 殃 击 杀 了 他 们 。

34 那 地 方 便 叫 做 基 博 罗 哈 他 瓦 （ 就 是 贪 欲 之 人 的 坟 墓 ） ， 因 为 他 们 在 那 里 葬 埋 那 起 贪 欲 之 心 的 人 。

35 百 姓 从 基 博 罗 哈 他 瓦 走 到 哈 洗 录 ， 就 住 在 哈 洗 录 。

The People Complain

11 Now (A)when the people complained, it displeased the Lord; (B)for the Lord heard it, and His anger was aroused. So the (C)fire of the Lord burned among them, and consumed some in the outskirts of the camp. 2 Then the people (D)cried out to Moses, and when Moses (E)prayed to the Lord, the fire was [a]quenched. 3 So he called the name of the place [b]Taberah, because the fire of the Lord had burned among them.

4 Now the (F)mixed multitude who were among them [c]yielded to (G)intense craving; so the children of Israel also wept again and said: (H)“Who will give us meat to eat? 5 (I)We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic; 6 but now (J)our whole being is dried up; there is nothing at all except this manna before our eyes!”

7 Now (K)the manna was like coriander seed, and its color like the color of bdellium. 8 The people went about and gathered it, ground it on millstones or beat it in the mortar, cooked it in pans, and made cakes of it; and (L)its taste was like the taste of pastry prepared with oil. 9 And (M)when the dew fell on the camp in the night, the manna fell on it.

10 Then Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, everyone at the door of his tent; and (N)the anger of the Lord was greatly aroused; Moses also was displeased. 11 (O)So Moses said to the Lord, “Why have You afflicted Your servant? And why have I not found favor in Your sight, that You have laid the [d]burden of all these people on me? 12 Did I conceive all these people? Did I beget them, that You should say to me, (P)‘Carry them in your bosom, as a (Q)guardian carries a nursing child,’ to the land which You (R)swore[e] to their fathers? 13 (S)Where am I to get meat to give to all these people? For they weep all over me, saying, ‘Give us meat, that we may eat.’ 14 (T)I am not able to bear all these people alone, because the burden is too heavy for me. 15 If You treat me like this, please kill me here and now—if I have found favor in Your sight—and (U)do not let me see my wretchedness!”

The Seventy Elders

16 So the Lord said to Moses: “Gather to Me (V)seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and (W)officers over them; bring them to the tabernacle of meeting, that they may stand there with you. 17 Then I will come down and talk with you there. (X)I will take of the Spirit that is upon you and will put the same upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you may not bear it yourself alone. 18 Then you shall say to the people, [f]‘Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, and you shall eat meat; for you have wept (Y)in the hearing of the Lord, saying, “Who will give us meat to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt.” Therefore the Lord will give you meat, and you shall eat. 19 You shall eat, not one day, nor two days, nor five days, nor ten days, nor twenty days, 20 (Z)but for a whole month, until it comes out of your nostrils and becomes loathsome to you, because you have (AA)despised the Lord who is among you, and have wept before Him, saying, (AB)“Why did we ever come up out of Egypt?” ’ ”

21 And Moses said, (AC)“The people whom I am among are six hundred thousand men on foot; yet You have said, ‘I will give them meat, that they may eat for a whole month.’ 22 (AD)Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, to provide enough for them? Or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to provide enough for them?”

23 And the Lord said to Moses, (AE)“Has[g] the Lord’s arm been shortened? Now you shall see whether (AF)what I say will happen to you or not.”

24 So Moses went out and told the people the words of the Lord, and he (AG)gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people and placed them around the tabernacle. 25 Then the Lord came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was upon him, and placed the same upon the seventy elders; and it happened, (AH)when the Spirit rested upon them, that (AI)they prophesied, [h]although they never did so again.

26 But two men had remained in the camp: the name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad. And the Spirit rested upon them. Now they were among those listed, but who (AJ)had not gone out to the tabernacle; yet they prophesied in the camp. 27 And a young man ran and told Moses, and said, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.”

28 So Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, one of his choice men, answered and said, “Moses my lord, (AK)forbid them!”

29 Then Moses said to him, “Are you [i]zealous for my sake? (AL)Oh, that all the Lord’s people were prophets and that the Lord would put His Spirit upon them!” 30 And Moses returned to the camp, he and the elders of Israel.

The Lord Sends Quail

31 Now a (AM)wind went out from the Lord, and it brought quail from the sea and left them fluttering near the camp, about a day’s journey on this side and about a day’s journey on the other side, all around the camp, and about two cubits above the surface of the ground. 32 And the people stayed up all that day, all night, and all the next day, and gathered the quail (he who gathered least gathered ten (AN)homers); and they spread them out for themselves all around the camp. 33 But while the (AO)meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, the wrath of the Lord was aroused against the people, and the Lord struck the people with a very great plague. 34 So he called the name of that place [j]Kibroth Hattaavah, because there they buried the people who had yielded to craving.

35 (AP)From Kibroth Hattaavah the people moved to Hazeroth, and camped at Hazeroth.

Fire From the Lord

11 Now the people complained(A) about their hardships in the hearing of the Lord,(B) and when he heard them his anger was aroused.(C) Then fire from the Lord burned among them(D) and consumed(E) some of the outskirts of the camp. 2 When the people cried out to Moses, he prayed(F) to the Lord(G) and the fire died down. 3 So that place was called Taberah,[a](H) because fire from the Lord had burned among them.(I)

Quail From the Lord

4 The rabble with them began to crave other food,(J) and again the Israelites started wailing(K) and said, “If only we had meat to eat! 5 We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost—also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic.(L) 6 But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna!(M)”

7 The manna was like coriander seed(N) and looked like resin.(O) 8 The people went around gathering it,(P) and then ground it in a hand mill or crushed it in a mortar. They cooked it in a pot or made it into loaves. And it tasted like something made with olive oil. 9 When the dew(Q) settled on the camp at night, the manna also came down.

10 Moses heard the people of every family wailing(R) at the entrance to their tents. The Lord became exceedingly angry, and Moses was troubled. 11 He asked the Lord, “Why have you brought this trouble(S) on your servant? What have I done to displease you that you put the burden of all these people on me?(T) 12 Did I conceive all these people? Did I give them birth? Why do you tell me to carry them in my arms, as a nurse carries an infant,(U) to the land you promised on oath(V) to their ancestors?(W) 13 Where can I get meat for all these people?(X) They keep wailing to me, ‘Give us meat to eat!’ 14 I cannot carry all these people by myself; the burden is too heavy for me.(Y) 15 If this is how you are going to treat me, please go ahead and kill me(Z)—if I have found favor in your eyes—and do not let me face my own ruin.”

16 The Lord said to Moses: “Bring me seventy of Israel’s elders(AA) who are known to you as leaders and officials among the people.(AB) Have them come to the tent of meeting,(AC) that they may stand there with you. 17 I will come down and speak with you(AD) there, and I will take some of the power of the Spirit that is on you and put it on them.(AE) They will share the burden of the people with you so that you will not have to carry it alone.(AF)

18 “Tell the people: ‘Consecrate yourselves(AG) in preparation for tomorrow, when you will eat meat. The Lord heard you when you wailed,(AH) “If only we had meat to eat! We were better off in Egypt!”(AI) Now the Lord will give you meat,(AJ) and you will eat it. 19 You will not eat it for just one day, or two days, or five, ten or twenty days, 20 but for a whole month—until it comes out of your nostrils and you loathe it(AK)—because you have rejected the Lord,(AL) who is among you, and have wailed before him, saying, “Why did we ever leave Egypt?”’”(AM)

21 But Moses said, “Here I am among six hundred thousand men(AN) on foot, and you say, ‘I will give them meat to eat for a whole month!’ 22 Would they have enough if flocks and herds were slaughtered for them? Would they have enough if all the fish in the sea were caught for them?”(AO)

23 The Lord answered Moses, “Is the Lord’s arm too short?(AP) Now you will see whether or not what I say will come true for you.(AQ)”

24 So Moses went out and told the people what the Lord had said. He brought together seventy of their elders and had them stand around the tent. 25 Then the Lord came down in the cloud(AR) and spoke with him,(AS) and he took some of the power of the Spirit(AT) that was on him and put it on the seventy elders.(AU) When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied(AV)—but did not do so again.

26 However, two men, whose names were Eldad and Medad, had remained in the camp. They were listed among the elders, but did not go out to the tent. Yet the Spirit also rested on them,(AW) and they prophesied in the camp. 27 A young man ran and told Moses, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.”

28 Joshua son of Nun,(AX) who had been Moses’ aide(AY) since youth, spoke up and said, “Moses, my lord, stop them!”(AZ)

29 But Moses replied, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the Lord’s people were prophets(BA) and that the Lord would put his Spirit(BB) on them!”(BC) 30 Then Moses and the elders of Israel returned to the camp.

31 Now a wind went out from the Lord and drove quail(BD) in from the sea. It scattered them up to two cubits[b] deep all around the camp, as far as a day’s walk in any direction. 32 All that day and night and all the next day the people went out and gathered quail. No one gathered less than ten homers.[c] Then they spread them out all around the camp. 33 But while the meat was still between their teeth(BE) and before it could be consumed, the anger(BF) of the Lord burned against the people, and he struck them with a severe plague.(BG) 34 Therefore the place was named Kibroth Hattaavah,[d](BH) because there they buried the people who had craved other food.

35 From Kibroth Hattaavah the people traveled to Hazeroth(BI) and stayed there.

Ma-na

4 Bấy giờ những dân ô hợp ở giữa họ thèm ăn món nầy món nọ, khiến dân I-sơ-ra-ên lại khóc lóc và thở than, “Ước gì chúng ta có thịt mà ăn! 5 Chúng ta nhớ ngày nào được ăn cá ở Ai-cập mà chẳng tốn một đồng tiền, rồi nào là dưa leo, dưa hấu, củ kiệu, củ hành, và củ tỏi. 6 Bây giờ thì linh hồn chúng ta khô cằn. Chẳng có món gì cả; ngày nào cũng chỉ thấy có mỗi một món ma-na nầy.”

7 Vả, ma-na là những hạt nhỏ giống như hạt ngò, có màu trắng đục tựa như nhựa hương. 8 Dân chúng đi tản mác hốt nó đem về, dùng cối xay nghiền nát hoặc cho vào cối giã ra thành bột, rồi đem nấu trong nồi hoặc làm bánh; vị của nó giống như vị của bánh ngọt làm bằng bột trộn dầu. 9 Ðêm đêm mỗi khi sương rơi xuống trên doanh trại, thì ma-na cũng rơi xuống theo.

10 Môi-se nghe dân chúng than khóc trong gia đình họ, ở cửa lều họ. Bấy giờ Chúa nổi giận phừng phừng, còn Môi-se thì rất khổ tâm. 11 Môi-se thưa với Chúa, “Tại sao Ngài làm khổ tôi tớ Ngài như thế nầy? Tại sao con không được ơn trước mặt Ngài, đến nỗi Ngài đã chất cả gánh nặng của đoàn dân nầy trên con? 12 Con có mang thai cả đoàn dân nầy chăng? Con có sinh ra họ chăng, mà Ngài bảo con phải bồng ẵm họ trong lòng, như người vú bồng ẵm con thơ còn cho bú, để mang họ vào trong xứ mà Ngài đã thề hứa với tổ tiên họ? 13 Con biết lấy thịt ở đâu cho cả đoàn dân nầy ăn bây giờ? Vì họ đến khóc lóc với con và nói rằng, ‘Hãy cho chúng tôi thịt để chúng tôi ăn!’ 14 Con không thể mang nổi đoàn dân nầy một mình, vì họ quá nặng đối với con. 15 Nếu Ngài định đối xử với con thế nầy, xin cho con được ơn trước mặt Ngài bằng cách cất lấy mạng sống con đi, để con khỏi phải nhìn thấy nỗi khổ của con.”

16 Bấy giờ Chúa phán với Môi-se, “Hãy triệu tập bảy mươi trưởng lão của dân I-sơ-ra-ên lại, tức những người ngươi biết là trưởng lão của dân và những người lãnh đạo của dân. Hãy đưa họ đến Lều Hội Kiến và để họ đứng đó với ngươi. 17 Ta sẽ ngự xuống nói chuyện với ngươi tại đó. Ta sẽ lấy Thần Ta đang ngự trên ngươi đặt trên chúng, để chúng cùng mang gánh nặng của dân với ngươi, hầu ngươi sẽ không mang gánh nặng ấy một mình. 18 Ngươi cũng hãy nói với dân: Hãy làm cho anh chị em ra thánh, vì ngày mai anh chị em sẽ ăn thịt, bởi anh chị em có kêu rêu khóc lóc thấu đến tai Chúa rằng: ‘Ước gì chúng ta có thịt để ăn! Nếu biết sẽ như thế nầy thì thà cứ ở lại Ai-cập còn hơn.’ Vì vậy Chúa sẽ ban thịt cho anh chị em, để anh chị em có thịt mà ăn. 19 Anh chị em sẽ không ăn thịt chỉ một ngày, hai ngày, năm ngày, mười ngày, hay hai mươi ngày, 20 nhưng sẽ có thịt ăn cả tháng, cho đến khi thịt trào ra lỗ mũi, và anh chị em phải ngán sợ mới thôi, bởi vì anh chị em đã khinh thường Chúa, Ðấng đang ngự giữa anh chị em, và đã kêu rêu khóc lóc trước mặt Ngài, mà rằng, ‘Tại sao chúng ta phải rời khỏi Ai-cập?’”

21 Môi-se thưa với Chúa, “Ðoàn dân mà con đang ở với họ đây có tới sáu trăm ngàn bộ binh, thế mà Ngài bảo, ‘Ta sẽ cho họ thịt để ăn trong cả tháng!’ 22 Làm sao có đủ các đàn chiên và các đàn bò mà làm thịt cho họ ăn đây? Ngay cả cá dưới biển cũng không biết có đủ để bắt lên cho họ ăn chăng?”

23 Chúa phán với Môi-se, “Tay quyền năng của Ta há bị giới hạn sao? Bây giờ ngươi hãy chờ xem những lời Ta đã phán có đúng không.”

24 Vậy Môi-se đi ra và nói với dân những lời Chúa đã phán. Ông triệu tập bảy mươi trưởng lão của dân lại và để họ đứng chung quanh Lều. 25 Bấy giờ Chúa từ đám mây ngự xuống nói chuyện với ông. Ngài lấy Thần của Ngài đang ngự trên ông mà đặt trên bảy mươi trưởng lão. Khi Thần của Ngài ngự trên họ, họ nói tiên tri, nhưng chỉ một lần ấy mà thôi.

26 Có hai vị trưởng lão, một vị tên Ên-đát, còn vị kia tên Mê-đát; hai vị ấy có tên trong danh sách các vị trưởng lão, nhưng không đến Lều; khi Thần của Ngài ngự trên các vị trưởng lão thì họ cũng nói tiên tri trong doanh trại. 27 Một thanh niên chạy đến báo với Môi-se, “Ên-đát và Mê-đát đang nói tiên tri trong doanh trại.”

28 Giô-suê con trai Nun, phụ tá của Môi-se, một trong những người trẻ hầu cận của ông, nói, “Thưa chúa, xin ban lịnh cấm họ.”

29 Nhưng Môi-se đáp, “Anh ganh giùm tôi chăng? Ước chi toàn thể dân Ngài đều là các tiên tri, và ước chi Chúa đặt Thần của Ngài trên họ!” 30 Sau đó Môi-se và các vị trưởng lão đều trở về doanh trại.

Chim Cút

31 Bấy giờ Chúa khiến một luồng gió mạnh mang vô số chim cút từ bờ biển vào quanh doanh trại, khắp cả bên nầy lẫn bên kia, phía nào cũng đi cả ngày đường mới hết chim cút; chim cút tràn ngập khắp mặt đất, chồng chất lên nhau cao chừng một mét.[b] 32 Dân chúng ùa ra bắt cút. Họ bắt suốt ngày hôm đó, suốt đêm hôm đó, và cả ngày hôm sau. Người nào bắt ít nhất cũng kiếm được hơn hai ngàn con.[c] Họ đem về căng ra phơi khô khắp cả doanh trại. 33 Nhưng đang khi thịt còn dính nơi răng họ, trước khi họ chưa kịp nhai, Chúa đã nổi cơn thịnh nộ nghịch lại dân. Chúa đánh phạt dân bằng một tại vạ rất nặng nề. 34 Người ta gọi nơi đó là Kíp-rốt Hát-ta-a-va,[d] bởi vì người ta đã chôn xác những người tham ăn ở nơi đó. 35 Từ Kíp-rốt Hát-ta-a-va đoàn dân lên đường đi đến Ha-xê-rốt.
