Rebellion Against Moses and Aaron
16 Now (A)Korah the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, with (B)Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, and On the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men; 2 and they rose up before Moses with some of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty leaders of the congregation, (C)representatives of the congregation, men of renown. 3 (D)They gathered together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them, “You [a]take too much upon yourselves, for (E)all the congregation is holy, every one of them, (F)and the Lord is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?”
4 So when Moses heard it, he (G)fell on his face; 5 and he spoke to Korah and all his company, saying, “Tomorrow morning the Lord will show who is (H)His and who is (I)holy,[b] and will cause him to come near to Him. That one whom He chooses He will cause to (J)come near to Him. 6 Do this: Take censers, Korah and all your company; 7 put fire in them and put incense in them before the Lord tomorrow, and it shall be that the man whom the Lord chooses is the holy one. You take too much upon yourselves, you sons of Levi!”
8 Then Moses said to Korah, “Hear now, you sons of Levi: 9 Is it (K)a small thing to you that the God of Israel has (L)separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to Himself, to do the work of the tabernacle of the Lord, and to stand before the congregation to serve them; 10 and that He has brought you near to Himself, you and all your brethren, the sons of Levi, with you? And are you seeking the priesthood also? 11 Therefore you and all your company are gathered together against the Lord. (M)And what is Aaron that you complain against him?”
12 And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, but they said, “We will not come up! 13 Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of (N)a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, that you should (O)keep acting like a prince over us? 14 Moreover (P)you have not brought us into (Q)a land flowing with milk and honey, nor given us inheritance of fields and vineyards. Will you put out the eyes of these men? We will not come up!”
15 Then Moses was very angry, and said to the Lord, (R)“Do not [c]respect their offering. (S)I have not taken one donkey from them, nor have I hurt one of them.”
16 And Moses said to Korah, “Tomorrow, you and all your company be present (T)before the Lord—you and they, as well as Aaron. 17 Let each take his censer and put incense in it, and each of you bring his censer before the Lord, two hundred and fifty censers; both you and Aaron, each with his censer.” 18 So every man took his censer, put fire in it, laid incense on it, and stood at the door of the tabernacle of meeting with Moses and Aaron. 19 And Korah gathered all the congregation against them at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. Then (U)the glory of the Lord appeared to all the congregation.
20 And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, 21 (V)“Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may (W)consume them in a moment.”
22 Then they (X)fell[d] on their faces, and said, “O God, (Y)the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and You be angry with all the (Z)congregation?”
23 So the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 24 “Speak to the congregation, saying, ‘Get away from the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.’ ”
25 Then Moses rose and went to Dathan and Abiram, and the elders of Israel followed him. 26 And he spoke to the congregation, saying, (AA)“Depart now from the tents of these wicked men! Touch nothing of theirs, lest you be consumed in all their sins.” 27 So they got away from around the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram; and Dathan and Abiram came out and stood at the door of their tents, with their wives, their sons, and their little (AB)children.
28 And Moses said: (AC)“By this you shall know that the Lord has sent me to do all these works, for I have not done them (AD)of my own will. 29 If these men die naturally like all men, or if they are (AE)visited by the common fate of all men, then the Lord has not sent me. 30 But if the Lord creates (AF)a new thing, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them up with all that belongs to them, and they (AG)go down alive into the pit, then you will understand that these men have rejected the Lord.”
31 (AH)Now it came to pass, as he finished speaking all these words, that the ground split apart under them, 32 and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and (AI)all the men with Korah, with all their goods. 33 So they and all those with them went down alive into the pit; the earth closed over them, and they perished from among the assembly. 34 Then all Israel who were around them fled at their cry, for they said, “Lest the earth swallow us up also!”
35 And (AJ)a fire came out from the Lord and consumed the two hundred and fifty men who were offering incense.
36 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 37 “Tell Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, to pick up the censers out of the blaze, for (AK)they are holy, and scatter the fire some distance away. 38 The censers of (AL)these men who sinned [e]against their own souls, let them be made into hammered plates as a covering for the altar. Because they presented them before the Lord, therefore they are holy; (AM)and they shall be a sign to the children of Israel.” 39 So Eleazar the priest took the bronze censers, which those who were burned up had presented, and they were hammered out as a covering on the altar, 40 to be a [f]memorial to the children of Israel (AN)that no outsider, who is not a descendant of Aaron, should come near to offer incense before the Lord, that he might not become like Korah and his companions, just as the Lord had said to him through Moses.
Complaints of the People
41 On the next day (AO)all the congregation of the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron, saying, “You have killed the people of the Lord.” 42 Now it happened, when the congregation had gathered against Moses and Aaron, that they turned toward the tabernacle of meeting; and suddenly (AP)the cloud covered it, and the glory of the Lord appeared. 43 Then Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of meeting.
44 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 45 “Get away from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.”
And they fell on their faces.
46 So Moses said to Aaron, “Take a censer and put fire in it from the altar, put incense on it, and take it quickly to the congregation and make [g]atonement for them; (AQ)for wrath has gone out from the Lord. The plague has begun.” 47 Then Aaron took it as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the assembly; and already the plague had begun among the people. So he put in the incense and made atonement for the people. 48 And he stood between the dead and the living; so (AR)the plague was stopped. 49 Now those who died in the plague were fourteen thousand seven hundred, besides those who died in the Korah incident. 50 So Aaron returned to Moses at the door of the tabernacle of meeting, for the plague had stopped.

Some Leaders Turn Against Moses
16 Korah, Dathan, Abiram, and On turned against Moses. (Korah was the son of Izhar. Izhar was the son of Kohath, and Kohath was the son of Levi. Dathan and Abiram were brothers, the sons of Eliab. And On was the son of Peleth. Dathan, Abiram, and On were descendants of Reuben.) 2 These four men gathered 250 other men from Israel together and came against Moses. They were leaders who had been chosen by the people. All the people knew them. 3 They came as a group to speak against Moses and Aaron and said, “You have gone too far—you are wrong! All the Israelites are holy—the Lord still lives among them. You are making yourselves more important than the rest of the Lord’s people.”
4 When Moses heard this, he bowed his face to the ground to show he was not being proud. 5 Then Moses said to Korah and all his followers, “Tomorrow morning the Lord will show who belongs to him. He will show who is holy, and he will bring that man near to him. He will choose him and bring that man near to him. 6 So Korah, you and all your followers should do this: 7 Tomorrow put fire and incense in some special pans. Then bring those pans before the Lord. He will choose the man who is holy. You Levites have gone too far—you are wrong!”
8 Moses also said to Korah, “You Levites, listen to me. 9 You should be happy that the God of Israel chose you to be different from the rest of the Israelites. He lets you come near to him to do the special work in the Lord’s Holy Tent to help the Israelites worship him. Isn’t that enough? 10 He brought you Levites near to him to help the priests, but now you are trying to become priests also. 11 You and your followers have joined together and turned against the Lord! Did Aaron do anything wrong? No, so why are you complaining against Aaron?”
12 Then Moses called Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab. But the two men said, “We will not come! 13 You have brought us out of a land filled with many good things.[a] You brought us to the desert to kill us. And now you want to show that you have even more power over us. 14 Why should we follow you? You did not bring us into the new land filled with many good things. You did not give us the land God promised. You did not give us the fields or the vineyards. Will you make these men your slaves? No! We will not come.”
15 So Moses became very angry. He said to the Lord, “I never did anything wrong to these people. I never took anything from them—not even a donkey! Don’t accept their gifts!”
16 Then Moses said to Korah, “You and all your followers will stand before the Lord tomorrow. Aaron will also be there with you and your followers. 17 Each of you must bring a pan, put incense in it, and present it to the Lord. There will be 250 pans for the leaders and one pan for you and one pan for Aaron.”
18 So each man got a pan and put burning incense in it. Then they stood at the entrance of the Meeting Tent. Moses and Aaron also stood there. 19 Korah also gathered all the people together at the entrance of the Meeting Tent. Then the Glory of the Lord appeared to everyone there.
20 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, 21 “Move away from these men! I want to destroy them now!”
22 But Moses and Aaron bowed to the ground and cried out, “God, you know what people are thinking.[b] Please don’t be angry with all these people. Only one man really sinned.”
23 Then the Lord said to Moses, 24 “Tell the people to move away from the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.”
25 Moses stood and went to Dathan and Abiram. All the elders of Israel followed him. 26 Moses warned the people, “Move away from the tents of these evil men. Don’t touch anything that belongs to them! If you do, you will be destroyed because of their sins.”
27 So the men moved away from the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. Dathan and Abiram went to their tents. They stood outside of their tents with their wives, children, and little babies.
28 Then Moses said, “I will show you proof that the Lord sent me to do all the things I told you. I will show you that all these things were not my own idea. 29 These men will die, but if they die in a normal way—the way people always die—then that will show that the Lord did not really send me. 30 But if the Lord causes them to die in a different way, then you will know that these men have sinned against the Lord. This is the proof: The earth will open and swallow them. They will go down to their grave still alive. And everything that belongs to these men will go down with them.”
31 When Moses finished saying these things, the ground under the men opened. 32 It was as if the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them. All of Korah’s men, their families, and everything they owned went down into the earth. 33 They went down into their grave alive. Everything they owned went with them. Then the earth closed over them. They were finished—gone from the camp!
34 The Israelites heard the cries of the men being destroyed. So they all ran in different directions and said, “The earth will swallow us too!”
35 Then a fire came from the Lord and destroyed the 250 men who were offering the incense.
36 The Lord said to Moses, 37-38 “Tell Eleazar son of Aaron the priest to get all the incense pans from the fire. Tell him to scatter the coals and ashes. These men sinned against me, and their sin cost them their lives. But the incense pans are still holy. The pans became holy when people gave them to the Lord. Hammer the pans into flat sheets. Use the metal sheets to cover the altar. This will be a warning to all the Israelites.”
39 So Eleazar the priest gathered together all the bronze pans that the men had brought. These men were all burned up, but the pans were still there. Then Eleazar told some men to hammer the pans into flat metal. Then he put the metal sheets on the altar. 40 He did this the way the Lord commanded him through Moses. This was a sign to help the Israelites remember that only someone from the family of Aaron should burn incense before the Lord. Any other person who burns incense before the Lord will die like Korah and his followers.
Aaron Saves the People
41 The next day all the Israelites complained against Moses and Aaron. They said, “You killed the Lord’s people.”
42 Moses and Aaron were standing at the entrance of the Meeting Tent. The people gathered together at that place to complain against Moses and Aaron. But when they looked toward the Meeting Tent, the cloud covered it and the Glory of the Lord appeared there. 43 Then Moses and Aaron went to the front of the Meeting Tent.
44 The Lord said to Moses, 45 “Move away from these people so that I can destroy them now.” So Moses and Aaron bowed with their faces to the ground.
46 Then Moses said to Aaron, “Get your bronze pan and some fire from the altar. Then put incense in it. Hurry to the people and do the things that will make them pure. The Lord is angry with them. The trouble has already started.”
47-48 So Aaron got the incense and the fire, and he ran to the middle of the people. But the sickness had already started among them. So Aaron stood between the dead and those who were still alive. He did what Moses said to remove their sin, and the sickness stopped there. 49 But 14,700 people died from that sickness—and that is not counting the people who died because of Korah. 50 So the terrible sickness was stopped, and Aaron went back to Moses at the entrance of the Meeting Tent.

Kora, Datan och Abiram gör uppror
16 Kora[a], son till Jishar, son till Kehat, son till Levi, tog med sig både Datan och Abiram[b], Eliabs söner, och On, Pelets son, av Rubens söner, 2 och gjorde uppror mot Mose. Tvåhundrafemtio män av Israels barn följde dem, furstar i församlingen, utvalda från folkförsamlingen, ansedda män. 3 De samlade sig mot Mose och Aron och sade till dem: ”Nu får det vara nog! Hela församlingen är helig, allesammans, och Herren är mitt ibland dem. Varför upphöjer ni er över Herrens församling?”
4 När Mose hörde det föll han ner på sitt ansikte. 5 Sedan talade han till Kora och hela hans grupp och sade: ”I morgon ska Herren visa vem som tillhör honom, vem som är helig och vem som får komma inför honom. Den han utväljer ska få komma inför honom. 6 Gör så här: Ta era fyrfat, du Kora och hela din grupp, 7 och lägg eld i dem och strö rökelse på dem inför Herrens ansikte[c] i morgon. Den man som Herren då utväljer, han är den helige. Nu får det vara nog, ni Levi söner!”
8 Och Mose sade till Kora: ”Hör, ni Levi söner! 9 (A) Är det inte nog för er att Israels Gud har avskilt er från Israels församling för att låta er komma inför sig och göra tjänst i Herrens tabernakel och stå inför församlingen och betjäna den. 10 Han har låtit dig och alla dina bröder, Levi söner, jämte dig komma inför sig. Och nu begär ni också prästämbetet! 11 Det är därför som du och hela din grupp har gaddat ihop er mot Herren. Vem är Aron att ni skulle klaga mot honom?”
12 Mose sände bud efter Datan och Abiram, Eliabs söner. Men de sade: ”Vi kommer inte. 13 Är det inte nog att du har fört oss hit upp från ett land som flödar av mjölk och honung för att låta oss dö i öknen? Nu vill du också göra dig till herre över oss! 14 Du har sannerligen inte fört oss in i ett land som flödar av mjölk och honung eller gett oss åkrar och vingårdar till arvedel. Tänker du sticka ut ögonen på dessa människor? Nej, vi kommer inte!” 15 (B) Då blev Mose mycket vred och sade till Herren: ”Se inte till deras offergåva. Inte en enda åsna har jag tagit av dem, och ingen av dem har jag gjort något ont.”
16 Mose sade till Kora: ”I morgon ska du och hela din grupp träda fram inför Herrens ansikte, du själv och de och Aron. 17 Och var och en av er ska ta sitt fyrfat och lägga rökelse på det och bära sitt fyrfat fram inför Herrens ansikte, tvåhundrafemtio fyrfat. Du själv och Aron ska också ta var sitt fyrfat.” 18 Och de tog var och en sitt fyrfat och lade eld på det och strödde på rökelse och ställde sig vid ingången till uppenbarelsetältet tillsammans med Mose och Aron. 19 Kora samlade hela församlingen mot dem vid ingången till uppenbarelsetältet.
Då visade sig Herrens härlighet för hela församlingen. 20 Och Herren talade till Mose och Aron. Han sade: 21 ”Skilj er från denna församling, så ska jag förgöra dem på ett ögonblick.” 22 (C) Då föll de ner på sina ansikten och sade: ”O Gud, du Gud som råder över anden i allt kött! Ska du bli vred på hela församlingen för att en enda man syndar?” 23 Då talade Herren till Mose. Han sade: 24 ”Säg till församlingen: Dra er bort från lägerplatsen kring Kora, Datan och Abiram.”
25 Mose steg upp och gick till Datan och Abiram, och de äldste i Israel följde honom. 26 Mose talade till församlingen. Han sade: ”Vik bort från dessa ogudaktiga människors tält och rör inte något som tillhör dem, så att ni inte förgås genom alla deras synder.” 27 Då drog de sig bort från lägerplatsen kring Kora, Datan och Abiram. Men Datan och Abiram kom ut och ställde sig vid ingången till sina tält med sina hustrur och barn, stora och små.
28 Och Mose sade: ”Av detta ska ni förstå att det är Herren som har sänt mig att göra alla dessa gärningar. Jag har inte handlat efter eget tycke. 29 Om dessa dör på samma sätt som andra människor och får samma straff som alla andra, då har Herren inte sänt mig. 30 Men om Herren gör något nytt genom att marken spärrar upp sitt gap och slukar dem med allt de äger så att de far levande ner i dödsriket, då ska ni förstå att dessa människor har föraktat Herren.”
31 Just när han hade sagt detta, rämnade marken under dem. 32 (D) Jorden öppnade sitt gap och slukade dem och deras hus, allt Koras folk och alla deras ägodelar. 33 De föll levande ner i dödsriket med allt de ägde, och jorden täckte över dem. Så utrotades de ur församlingen. 34 Hela Israel som stod runt omkring dem flydde vid deras rop, för de sade: ”Annars slukas vi också av jorden!”
35 Och eld gick ut från Herren och förtärde de tvåhundrafemtio männen som hade burit fram rökelse.
36 Herren talade till Mose. Han sade: 37 ”Säg till Eleasar, prästen Arons son, att han ska ta ut fyrfaten ur branden och kasta elden långt bort, för de har blivit heliga. 38 Och dessa fyrfat som tillhörde männen som syndade och miste sina liv, dem ska man hamra ut till plåtar och täcka altaret med, för de har varit framburna inför Herrens ansikte och har därför blivit heliga. De ska vara ett tecken för Israels barn.”
39 Då tog prästen Eleasar de fyrfat av koppar som de uppbrända hade burit fram, och man hamrade ut dem för att täcka altaret. 40 De skulle vara till en påminnelse för Israels barn att ingen främling som inte var av Arons släkt skulle träda fram och tända rökelse inför Herrens ansikte, för att inte bli som Kora och hans grupp – allt i enlighet med vad Herren hade sagt honom genom Mose.
Folket klagar
41 Men dagen efter klagade hela Israels församling mot Mose och Aron och sade: ”Det är ni som har dödat Herrens folk!” 42 Och det hände att när församlingen samlades mot Mose och Aron och de vände sig mot uppenbarelsetältet, se, då täcktes det av molnskyn och Herrens härlighet visade sig. 43 Mose och Aron gick fram inför uppenbarelsetältet, 44 och Herren sade till Mose: 45 ”Gå bort ifrån denna församling, så ska jag i ett ögonblick förgöra dem.” Då föll de ner på sina ansikten.
46 Och Mose sade till Aron: ”Ta ditt fyrfat och lägg eld från altaret på det och strö på rökelse och bär det genast till församlingen och bringa försoning för dem, eftersom vrede har gått ut från Herrens ansikte. Hemsökelsen har börjat.”
47 Aron tog det Mose hade sagt och skyndade mitt in i församlingen. Och se, hemsökelsen hade redan börjat bland folket. Aron lade på rökelse och bringade försoning för folket. 48 Han stod mellan de döda och de levande, och hemsökelsen upphörde. 49 De som hade dött genom hemsökelsen utgjorde 14 700 förutom dem som dog för Koras skull. 50 Sedan vände Aron tillbaka till Mose vid uppenbarelsetältets ingång, eftersom hemsökelsen hade upphört.

Korah, Dathan and Abiram
16 Korah(A) son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and certain Reubenites—Dathan and Abiram(B), sons of Eliab,(C) and On son of Peleth—became insolent[a] 2 and rose up against Moses.(D) With them were 250 Israelite men, well-known community leaders who had been appointed members of the council.(E) 3 They came as a group to oppose Moses and Aaron(F) and said to them, “You have gone too far! The whole community is holy,(G) every one of them, and the Lord is with them.(H) Why then do you set yourselves above the Lord’s assembly?”(I)
4 When Moses heard this, he fell facedown.(J) 5 Then he said to Korah and all his followers: “In the morning the Lord will show who belongs to him and who is holy,(K) and he will have that person come near him.(L) The man he chooses(M) he will cause to come near him. 6 You, Korah, and all your followers(N) are to do this: Take censers(O) 7 and tomorrow put burning coals(P) and incense(Q) in them before the Lord. The man the Lord chooses(R) will be the one who is holy.(S) You Levites have gone too far!”
8 Moses also said to Korah, “Now listen, you Levites! 9 Isn’t it enough(T) for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the rest of the Israelite community and brought you near himself to do the work at the Lord’s tabernacle and to stand before the community and minister to them?(U) 10 He has brought you and all your fellow Levites near himself, but now you are trying to get the priesthood too.(V) 11 It is against the Lord that you and all your followers have banded together. Who is Aaron that you should grumble(W) against him?(X)”
12 Then Moses summoned Dathan and Abiram,(Y) the sons of Eliab. But they said, “We will not come!(Z) 13 Isn’t it enough that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey(AA) to kill us in the wilderness?(AB) And now you also want to lord it over us!(AC) 14 Moreover, you haven’t brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey(AD) or given us an inheritance of fields and vineyards.(AE) Do you want to treat these men like slaves[b]?(AF) No, we will not come!(AG)”
15 Then Moses became very angry(AH) and said to the Lord, “Do not accept their offering. I have not taken so much as a donkey(AI) from them, nor have I wronged any of them.”
16 Moses said to Korah, “You and all your followers are to appear before the Lord tomorrow—you and they and Aaron.(AJ) 17 Each man is to take his censer and put incense in it—250 censers in all—and present it before the Lord. You and Aaron are to present your censers also.(AK)” 18 So each of them took his censer,(AL) put burning coals and incense in it, and stood with Moses and Aaron at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 19 When Korah had gathered all his followers in opposition to them(AM) at the entrance to the tent of meeting, the glory of the Lord(AN) appeared to the entire assembly. 20 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, 21 “Separate yourselves(AO) from this assembly so I can put an end to them at once.”(AP)
22 But Moses and Aaron fell facedown(AQ) and cried out, “O God, the God who gives breath to all living things,(AR) will you be angry with the entire assembly(AS) when only one man sins?”(AT)
23 Then the Lord said to Moses, 24 “Say to the assembly, ‘Move away from the tents of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.’”
25 Moses got up and went to Dathan and Abiram, and the elders of Israel(AU) followed him. 26 He warned the assembly, “Move back from the tents of these wicked men!(AV) Do not touch anything belonging to them, or you will be swept away(AW) because of all their sins.(AX)” 27 So they moved away from the tents of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.(AY) Dathan and Abiram had come out and were standing with their wives, children(AZ) and little ones at the entrances to their tents.(BA)
28 Then Moses said, “This is how you will know(BB) that the Lord has sent me(BC) to do all these things and that it was not my idea: 29 If these men die a natural death and suffer the fate of all mankind, then the Lord has not sent me.(BD) 30 But if the Lord brings about something totally new, and the earth opens its mouth(BE) and swallows them, with everything that belongs to them, and they go down alive into the realm of the dead,(BF) then you will know that these men have treated the Lord with contempt.(BG)”
31 As soon as he finished saying all this, the ground under them split apart(BH) 32 and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them(BI) and their households, and all those associated with Korah, together with their possessions. 33 They went down alive into the realm of the dead,(BJ) with everything they owned; the earth closed over them, and they perished and were gone from the community. 34 At their cries, all the Israelites around them fled, shouting, “The earth is going to swallow us too!”
35 And fire came out from the Lord(BK) and consumed(BL) the 250 men who were offering the incense.
36 The Lord said to Moses, 37 “Tell Eleazar(BM) son of Aaron, the priest, to remove the censers(BN) from the charred remains and scatter the coals some distance away, for the censers are holy— 38 the censers of the men who sinned at the cost of their lives.(BO) Hammer the censers into sheets to overlay the altar,(BP) for they were presented before the Lord and have become holy. Let them be a sign(BQ) to the Israelites.”
39 So Eleazar the priest(BR) collected the bronze censers brought by those who had been burned to death,(BS) and he had them hammered out to overlay the altar, 40 as the Lord directed him through Moses. This was to remind the Israelites that no one except a descendant of Aaron should come to burn incense(BT) before the Lord,(BU) or he would become like Korah and his followers.(BV)
41 The next day the whole Israelite community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. “You have killed the Lord’s people,” they said.
42 But when the assembly gathered in opposition(BW) to Moses and Aaron and turned toward the tent of meeting, suddenly the cloud covered it and the glory of the Lord(BX) appeared. 43 Then Moses and Aaron went to the front of the tent of meeting, 44 and the Lord said to Moses, 45 “Get away from this assembly so I can put an end(BY) to them at once.” And they fell facedown.
46 Then Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer(BZ) and put incense in it, along with burning coals from the altar, and hurry to the assembly(CA) to make atonement(CB) for them. Wrath has come out from the Lord;(CC) the plague(CD) has started.” 47 So Aaron did as Moses said, and ran into the midst of the assembly. The plague had already started among the people,(CE) but Aaron offered the incense and made atonement for them. 48 He stood between the living and the dead, and the plague stopped.(CF) 49 But 14,700 people died from the plague, in addition to those who had died because of Korah.(CG) 50 Then Aaron returned to Moses at the entrance to the tent of meeting, for the plague had stopped.[c]
