16 The cloud covered it by day and fire by night. 17 Whenever the cloud was lifted up from the tabernacle, the people of Israel would journey out. The people of Israel would then settle and pitch their tent in the place where the cloud would descend.

18 The people of Israel would journey at the command of the Lord, and they would camp at the command of the Lord. As long as the cloud hovered over the tabernacle, they would stay where they were.

16 That is how it continued to be; the cloud covered it, and at night it looked like fire.(A) 17 Whenever the cloud lifted from above the tent, the Israelites set out;(B) wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped.(C) 18 At the Lord’s command the Israelites set out, and at his command they encamped. As long as the cloud stayed over the tabernacle, they remained(D) in camp.
