¹⁷ who ^(A)will go out ^[a]and come in before them, and who will lead them out and ^[b]bring them in, so that the congregation of Yahweh will not be ^(B)like sheep which have no shepherd.”

³⁴ Now a certain man drew his bow at random and struck the king of Israel ^[a]in a joint of the armor. So he said to the driver of his chariot, “Turn ^[b]around and take me out of the ^[c]fight, ^(A)for I am severely wounded.” ³⁵ Now the battle ^[d]raged that day, and the king was propped up in his chariot in front of the Arameans, and died at evening, and the blood from the wound ran into the bottom of the chariot. ^36 (B)Then a shout of lament passed throughout the camp close to sunset, saying, “Every man to his city and every man to his land.”

¹⁶ So he said,

^36 (A)And seeing the crowds, He felt compassion for them, ^(B)because they were ^[a]distressed and ^[b]downcast like sheep ^[c]without a shepherd.

³⁴ And when Jesus went ^[a]ashore, He ^(A)saw a large crowd, and He felt compassion for them because ^(B)they were like sheep without a shepherd; and He began to teach them many things.
