37 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 38 “Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them that they should make themselves fringes[a] on the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put on the fringe[b] of each border a cord of blue. 39 It shall be to you for a fringe,[c] that you may see it, and remember all Yahweh’s commandments, and do them; and that you don’t follow your own heart and your own eyes, after which you used to play the prostitute; 40 so that you may remember and do all my commandments, and be holy to your God. 41 I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am Yahweh your God.”

Tassels on Clothing

37 Then the Lord said to Moses, 38 “Give the following instructions to the people of Israel: Throughout the generations to come you must make tassels for the hems of your clothing and attach them with a blue cord. 39 When you see the tassels, you will remember and obey all the commands of the Lord instead of following your own desires and defiling yourselves, as you are prone to do. 40 The tassels will help you remember that you must obey all my commands and be holy to your God. 41 I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt that I might be your God. I am the Lord your God!”

Tassels on Garments

37 The Lord said to Moses, 38 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘Throughout the generations to come(A) you are to make tassels on the corners of your garments,(B) with a blue cord on each tassel. 39 You will have these tassels to look at and so you will remember(C) all the commands of the Lord, that you may obey them and not prostitute yourselves(D) by chasing after the lusts of your own hearts(E) and eyes. 40 Then you will remember to obey all my commands(F) and will be consecrated to your God.(G) 41 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt to be your God.(H) I am the Lord your God.(I)’”
