² “Command the people of Israel, and say to them, When you enter ^(A)the land of Canaan ^(B)(this is the land that shall fall to you for an inheritance, the land of Canaan as defined by its borders),

⁸ And ^(A)I will give to you and to your offspring after you the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession, and ^(B)I will be their God.”

Born Again to a Living Hope

^3 (A)Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! ^(B)According to his great mercy, ^(C)he has caused us to be born again to a living hope ^(D)through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, ⁴ to ^(E)an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and ^(F)unfading, ^(G)kept in heaven for you,

⁷ Turn and take your journey, and go to ^(A)the hill country of the Amorites and to all their neighbors in ^(B)the Arabah, ^(C)in the hill country and in the lowland and in the Negeb and ^(D)by the seacoast, the land of the Canaanites, and Lebanon, as far as the great river, the river Euphrates. ⁸ See, I have set the land before you. Go in and take possession of the land that the Lord swore to your fathers, ^(E)to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to them and to their offspring after them.’

^18 (A)having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is ^(B)the hope to which he has called you, what are ^(C)the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,

¹⁴ who is ^(A)the guarantee^[a] of our ^(B)inheritance until ^(C)we acquire ^(D)possession of it,^{[b] (E)}to the praise of his glory.

^18 (A)to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from ^(B)the power of Satan to God, that they may receive ^(C)forgiveness of sins and ^(D)a place among those who are sanctified ^(E)by faith in me.’

²⁶ And ^(A)he made from one man every nation of mankind to live ^(B)on all the face of the earth, ^(C)having determined allotted periods and ^(D)the boundaries of their dwelling place,
