²⁰ Then Saul sent messengers to take David, and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as head over them, ^(A)the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul, ^(B)and they also prophesied.

Asa's Religious Reforms

15 ^(A)The Spirit of God came^[a] upon Azariah the son of Oded,

²³ And he went there to Naioth in Ramah. ^(A)And the Spirit of God came upon him also, and as he went he prophesied until he came to Naioth in Ramah.

¹⁰ When they came to ^(A)Gibeah,^[a] behold, a group of prophets met him, ^(B)and the Spirit of God rushed upon him, and he prophesied among them.

⁴⁹ But one of them, ^(A)Caiaphas, ^(B)who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all. ⁵⁰ Nor do you understand that ^(C)it is better for you that one man should die for the people, not that the whole nation should perish.” ⁵¹ He did not say this of his own accord, but ^(D)being high priest that year ^(E)he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation,

^20 (A)Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that ^(B)your names are written in heaven.”

^8 (A)Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers,^[a] cast out demons. ^(B)You received without paying; give without pay.

^22 (A)On that day ^(B)many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not ^(C)prophesy in your name, and cast out demons ^(D)in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’
