³³ There we saw the ^[a]giants (^(A)the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were ^(B)like^[b] grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were ^(C)in their sight.”

²⁸ Where can we go up? Our brethren have ^[a]discouraged our hearts, saying, ^(A)“The people are greater and taller than we; the cities are great and fortified up to heaven; moreover we have seen the sons of the ^(B)Anakim there.” ’

² a people great and tall, the ^(A)descendants of the Anakim, whom you know, and of whom you heard it said, ‘Who can stand before the descendants of Anak?’

⁴ There were ^[a]giants on the earth in those ^(A)days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.

⁴² And when the Philistine looked about and saw David, he ^(A)disdained^[a] him; for he was only a youth, ^(B)ruddy and good-looking.

^11 (A)“For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of ^(B)the ^[a]giants. Indeed his bedstead was an iron bedstead. (Is it not in ^(C)Rabbah of the people of Ammon?) Nine cubits is its length and four cubits its width, according to the standard cubit.

²³ And he killed an Egyptian, a man of great height, ^[a]five cubits tall. In the Egyptian’s hand there was a spear like a weaver’s beam; and he went down to him with a staff, wrested the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and killed him with his own spear.

²⁰ Yet again ^(A)there was war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in number; and he also was born to ^[a]the giant. ²¹ So when he ^(B)defied Israel, Jonathan the son of ^[b]Shimea, David’s brother, killed him.
