¹⁶ These are the names of the men whom Moses sent to ^[a]spy out the land. And Moses called ^(A)Hoshea^[b] the son of Nun, Joshua.

⁸ from the tribe of Ephraim, ^[a]Hoshea the son of Nun;

⁸ For if ^[a]Joshua had ^(A)given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day.

²⁵ As He says also in Hosea:

^45 (A)which our fathers, having received it in turn, also brought with Joshua into the land possessed by the Gentiles, ^(B)whom God drove out before the face of our fathers until the ^(C)days of David,

^21 (A)And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name ^[a]Jesus, ^(B)for He will save His people from their sins.”

²² So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: ^23 (C)“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”

Hosea’s Unfaithful Wife

1 The word of the Lord that came to Hosea the son of Beeri, in the days of ^(A)Uzziah, ^(B)Jotham, ^(C)Ahaz, and ^(D)Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of ^(E)Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.

⁴⁴ So Moses came with ^[a]Joshua the son of Nun and spoke all the words of this song in the hearing of the people.

^30 (A)Except for Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun, you shall by no means enter the land which I ^[a]swore I would make you dwell in.
