12 Dies sind die Priester und die Leviten, die mit Serubabel, dem Sohn Sealthiels, und mit Jesua heraufzogen: Seraja, Jeremia, Esra,
2 Amarja, Malluch, Hattus,
3 Sechanja, Rehum, Meremoth,
4 Iddo, Ginthoi, Abia,
5 Mijamin, Maadja, Bilga,
6 Semaja, Jojarib, Jedaja,
7 Sallu, Amok, Hilkia und Jedaja. Dies waren die Häupter unter den Priestern und ihren Brüdern zu den Zeiten Jesuas.
8 Die Leviten aber waren diese: Jesua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Serebja, Juda und Matthanja, der hatte das Dankamt mit seinen Brüdern;
9 Bakbukja und Unni, ihre Brüder, waren ihnen gegenüber zum Dienst.
10 Jesua zeugte Jojakim, Jojakim zeugte Eljasib, Eljasib zeugte Jojada,
11 Jojada zeugte Jonathan, Jonathan zeugte Jaddua.
12 Und zu den Zeiten Jojakims waren diese Oberste der Vaterhäuser unter den Priestern: nämlich von Seraja war Meraja, von Jeremia war Hananja,
13 von Esra war Mesullam, von Amarja war Johanan,
14 von Malluch war Jonathan, von Sebanja war Joseph,
15 von Harim war Adna, von Merajoth war Helkai,
16 von Iddo war Sacharja, von Ginthon war Mesullam,
17 von Abia war Sichri, von Minjamin-Moadja war Piltai,
18 von Bilga war Sammua, von Semaja war Jonathan,
19 von Jojarib war Matthnai, von Jedaja war Usi,
20 von Sallai war Kallai, von Amok war Eber,
21 von Hilkia war Hasabja, von Jedaja war Nathanael.
22 Und zu den Zeiten Eljasibs, Jojadas, Johanans und Jadduas wurden die Obersten der Vaterhäuser unter den Leviten aufgeschrieben und die Priester, unter dem Königreich des Darius, des Persers.
23 Es wurden aber die Kinder Levi, die Obersten der Vaterhäuser, aufgeschrieben in der Chronik bis zur Zeit Johanans, des Sohnes Eljasibs.
24 Und dies waren die Obersten unter den Leviten: Hasabja, Serebja und Jesua, der Sohn Kadmiels; und ihre Brüder neben ihnen, verordnet, zu loben und zu danken, wie es David, der Mann Gottes, geboten hatte, eine Ordnung um die andere,
25 waren Matthanja, Bakbukja, Obadja. Aber Mesullam, Talmon und Akkub, die Torhüter, hatten die Hut an den Vorratskammern der Tore.
26 Diese waren zu den Zeiten Jojakims, des Sohnes Jesuas, des Sohnes Jozadaks, und zu den Zeiten Nehemias, des Landpflegers, und des Priesters Esra, des Schriftgelehrten.
27 Und bei der Einweihung der Mauer zu Jerusalem suchte man die Leviten aus allen ihren Orten, daß man sie gen Jerusalem brächte, zu halten Einweihung in Freuden, mit Danken, mit Singen, mit Zimbeln, Psalter und Harfen.
28 Und es versammelten sich die Kinder der Sänger von der Gegend um Jerusalem her und von den Höfen der Netophathiter
29 und von Beth-Gilgal und von den Äckern zu Geba und Asmaveth; denn die Sänger hatten sich Höfe gebaut um Jerusalem her.
30 Und die Priester und Leviten reinigten sich und reinigten das Volk, die Tore und die Mauer.
31 Und ich ließ die Fürsten Juda's oben auf die Mauer steigen und bestellte zwei große Dankchöre. Die einen gingen hin zur Rechten oben auf der Mauer zum Misttor hin,
32 und ihnen ging nach Hosaja und die Hälfte der Fürsten Juda's
33 und Asarja, Esra, Mesullam,
34 Juda, Benjamin, Semaja und Jeremia
35 und etliche der Priester-Kinder mit Drommeten, dazu Sacharja, der Sohn Jonathans, des Sohnes Semajas, des Sohnes Matthanjas, des Sohnes Michajas, des Sohnes Sakkurs, des Sohnes Asaphs,
36 und seine Brüder: Semaja, Asareel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nathanael und Juda, Hanani, mit den Saitenspielen Davids, des Mannes Gottes, Esra aber, der Schriftgelehrte, vor ihnen her.
37 Und zogen zum Brunnentor hin und gingen stracks vor sich auf den Stufen zur Stadt Davids, die Mauer hinauf zu dem Hause Davids hinan und bis an das Wassertor gegen Morgen.
38 Der andere Dankchor ging ihnen gegenüber, und ich ihm nach und die Hälfte des Volks, oben auf der Mauer zum Ofenturm hinan und bis an die breite Mauer
39 und zum Tor Ephraim hinan und zum alten Tor und zum Fischtor und zum Turm Hananeel und zum Turm Mea bis an das Schaftor, und blieben stehen im Kerkertor.
40 Und standen also die zwei Dankchöre am Hause Gottes, und ich und die Hälfte der Obersten mit mir,
41 und die Priester, nämlich Eljakim, Maaseja, Minjamin, Michaja, Eljoenai, Sacharja, Hananja mit Drommeten,
42 und Maaseja, Semaja, Eleasar, Usi, Johanan, Malchia, Elam und Eser. Und die Sänger sangen laut, und Jisrahja war der Vorsteher.
43 Und es wurden desselben Tages große Opfer geopfert, und sie waren fröhlich; denn Gott hatte ihnen eine große Freude gemacht, daß sich auch die Weiber und Kinder freuten, und man hörte die Freude Jerusalems ferne.
44 Zu der Zeit wurden verordnet Männer über die Vorratskammern, darin die Heben, Erstlinge und Zehnten waren, daß sie sammeln sollten von den Äckern um die Städte her, auszuteilen nach dem Gesetz für die Priester und Leviten; denn Juda hatte eine Freude an den Priestern und Leviten, daß sie standen
45 und warteten des Dienstes ihres Gottes und des Dienstes der Reinigung. Und die Sänger und Torhüter standen nach dem Gebot Davids und seines Sohnes Salomo;
46 denn vormals, zu den Zeiten Davids und Asaphs, wurden gestiftet die obersten Sänger und Loblieder und Dank zu Gott.
47 Aber ganz Israel gab den Sängern und Torhütern Teile zu den Zeiten Serubabels und Nehemias, einen jeglichen Tag sein Teil; und sie gaben Geheiligtes für die Leviten, die Leviten aber gaben Geheiligtes für die Kinder Aaron.

Verzeichnis der Priester und Leviten
12 Es folgt ein Verzeichnis der Priester und Leviten, die mit Serubbabel, dem Sohn von Schealtiël, und mit Jeschua aus der Verbannung zurückkehrten:
Priester:
Seraja, Jirmeja, Esra, 2 Amarja, Malluch, Hattusch, 3 Schechanja, Rehum, Meremot, 4 Iddo, Ginneton, Abija, 5 Mijamin, Maadja, Bilga, 6 Schemaja, Jojarib, Jedaja, 7 Sallu, Amok, Hilkija und Jedaja. Sie waren die obersten Priester zu der Zeit, als Jeschua Hoherpriester war.
8 Leviten:
Jeschua, Binnui, Kadmiël, Scherebja, Juda und Mattanja. Sie leiteten den Lobgesang im Tempel. 9 Bakbukja, Unni und ihre Verwandten sangen im Wechsel mit ihnen die Loblieder.
10 Die Nachkommen des Hohenpriesters Jeschua:
Jeschua war der Vater von Jojakim, auf diesen folgten in direkter Linie Eljaschib, Jojada, 11 Johanan[a] und Jaddua.
12 Als Jojakim das Amt des Hohenpriesters ausübte, waren folgende Priester die Oberhäupter ihrer Sippen:
Meraja von der Sippe Seraja,
Hananja von der Sippe Jirmeja,
13 Meschullam von der Sippe Esra,
Johanan von der Sippe Amarja,
14 Jonatan von der Sippe Malluch,
Josef von der Sippe Schebanja,
15 Adna von der Sippe Harim,
Helkai von der Sippe Meremot,
16 Secharja von der Sippe Iddo,
Meschullam von der Sippe Ginneton,
17 Sichri von der Sippe Abija,
…[b] von der Sippe Mijamin,
Piltai von der Sippe Maadja,
18 Schammua von der Sippe Bilga,
Jonatan von der Sippe Schemaja,
19 Mattenai von der Sippe Jojarib,
Usi von der Sippe Jedaja,
20 Kallai von der Sippe Sallu,
Eber von der Sippe Amok,
21 Haschabja von der Sippe Hilkija,
Netanel von der Sippe Jedaja.
22 Zur Zeit der Hohenpriester Eljaschib, Jojada, Johanan und Jaddua und des persischen Königs Darius wurden Verzeichnisse erstellt, in denen die Sippenoberhäupter der Priester und Leviten aufgeschrieben waren.
23 Die Sippenoberhäupter der Leviten wurden auch in den Chroniken aufgezeichnet, und zwar bis zur Zeit des Hohenpriesters Johanan, des Enkels von Eljaschib.
24-25 Die levitischen Sippenoberhäupter Haschabja, Scherebja, Jeschua, Binnui und Kadmiël[c] leiteten Dienstgruppen, die im Tempel Loblieder sangen. Im Wechsel mit ihnen sangen Mattanja, Bakbukja und Obadja mit ihren Gruppen. So hatte es früher David, der Mann Gottes, angeordnet.
Meschullam, Talmon und Akkub waren als Torwächter für die Vorratsräume bei den Tempeltoren eingesetzt.
26 Diese Männer lebten zur selben Zeit wie der Hohepriester Jojakim, ein Sohn von Jeschua und Enkel von Jozadak, wie der Statthalter Nehemia und wie Esra, der Priester und Schriftgelehrte.
Die Einweihung der Stadtmauer
27 Zur Einweihung der Stadtmauer wollten wir ein großes Fest feiern. Dazu ließen wir die Leviten aus dem ganzen Land nach Jerusalem kommen, sie sollten Loblieder singen und auf Zimbeln, Harfen und Lauten spielen. 28 Die Sänger kamen aus den Ortschaften rings um Jerusalem, aus den Dörfern der Netofatiter, 29 aus Bet-Gilgal und aus der Gegend von Geba und Asmawet, wo sie sich angesiedelt hatten. 30 Die Priester und Leviten reinigten sich für das Fest, dann besprengten sie auch das Volk, die Stadttore und die Mauer.
31 Anschließend ließ ich die führenden Männer aus dem Stamm Juda auf die Mauer steigen und teilte die Sänger in zwei große Gruppen ein: Die erste zog oben auf der Mauer in südlicher Richtung auf das Misttor zu. 32 Hinter ihnen ging Hoschaja mit der einen Hälfte der führenden Männer. 33 Dann folgten die Priester Asarja, Esra, Meschullam, 34 Juda, Benjamin, Schemaja und Jirmeja. 35 Sie bliesen die Trompeten. Danach kamen Secharja, der über Jonatan, Schemaja, Mattanja, Michaja und Sakkur von Asaf abstammte, 36 sowie seine Verwandten Schemaja, Asarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Netanel, Juda und Hanani. Sie spielten Saiteninstrumente, wie sie schon David, der Mann Gottes, eingesetzt hatte. Esra, der Schriftgelehrte, führte die ganze Gruppe an. 37 Beim Quelltor gingen sie geradeaus die Stufen hinauf, die zur »Stadt Davids« führten, und hinter dem früheren Palast von David vorbei zum Wassertor im Osten der Stadt.
38 Ich selbst schloss mich mit den übrigen führenden Männern des Volkes der zweiten Gruppe an. Wir gingen auf der Mauer in nördlicher Richtung zum Ofentor und zur »Breiten Mauer«, 39 dann vorbei am Ephraimtor, am Jeschana-Tor, am Fischtor, am Hananelturm, am »Turm der Hundert« und am Schaftor. Schließlich gelangten wir zum Wachtor.
40 Die beiden Gruppen stellten sich beim Tempel auf. Bei mir standen die zweite Gruppe der führenden Männer 41 und die Priester Eljakim, Maaseja, Mijamin, Michaja, Eljoënai, Secharja und Hananja mit ihren Trompeten. 42 Daneben hatte sich eine weitere Gruppe aufgestellt: Maaseja, Schemaja, Eleasar, Usi, Johanan, Malkija, Elam und Eser. Die Sänger sangen ihre Loblieder unter der Leitung von Jisrachja.
43 An diesem Tag wurden viele Tiere für das Opfermahl geschlachtet. Gott schenkte uns allen, Männern, Frauen und Kindern, große Freude. Unser Jubel war noch weit weg von Jerusalem zu hören.
Abgaben für die Priester und Leviten
44 Damals wurden einige Männer zur Aufsicht über die Vorratsräume bestimmt, in denen die Abgaben für den Dienst am Tempel aufbewahrt wurden: die ersten Früchte der Ernte und der zehnte Teil aller Einkünfte. Dort lagerte man auch die Abgaben, die man in den Dörfern je nach Größe der Felder für die Priester und Leviten eingesammelt hatte. Die Judäer freuten sich, dass die Priester und Leviten den Tempeldienst gewissenhaft versahen, 45 denn sie sorgten dafür, dass die Reinigungsvorschriften eingehalten wurden und der Gottesdienst regelmäßig gefeiert wurde. Auch die Sänger und Torwächter hielten sich an die Anweisungen, die David und sein Sohn Salomo gegeben hatten. 46 Schon seit den Tagen von David und Asaf wurde Gott im Heiligtum mit Lobliedern gepriesen, und es gab Männer, die den Gesang leiteten.
47 Ganz Israel versorgte zur Zeit von Serubbabel und Nehemia die Sänger und Torwächter mit allem, was sie zum Leben brauchten. Den Leviten lieferte man die Gott geweihten Gaben ab, und die Priester bekamen von den Leviten ihren Anteil.

12 In the days of Joiakim, these were the heads of the priestly families:

22 The family heads of the Levites in the days of Eliashib, Joiada, Johanan and Jaddua, as well as those of the priests, were recorded in the reign of Darius the Persian. 23 The family heads among the descendants of Levi up to the time of Johanan son of Eliashib were recorded in the book of the annals. 24 And the leaders of the Levites(O) were Hashabiah, Sherebiah, Jeshua son of Kadmiel, and their associates, who stood opposite them to give praise and thanksgiving, one section responding to the other, as prescribed by David the man of God.(P)
25 Mattaniah, Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon and Akkub were gatekeepers who guarded the storerooms at the gates. 26 They served in the days of Joiakim son of Joshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor and of Ezra the priest, the teacher of the Law.
Dedication of the Wall of Jerusalem
27 At the dedication(Q) of the wall of Jerusalem, the Levites were sought out from where they lived and were brought to Jerusalem to celebrate joyfully the dedication with songs of thanksgiving and with the music of cymbals,(R) harps and lyres.(S) 28 The musicians also were brought together from the region around Jerusalem—from the villages of the Netophathites,(T) 29 from Beth Gilgal, and from the area of Geba and Azmaveth, for the musicians had built villages for themselves around Jerusalem. 30 When the priests and Levites had purified themselves ceremonially, they purified the people,(U) the gates and the wall.
31 I had the leaders of Judah go up on top of[e] the wall. I also assigned two large choirs to give thanks. One was to proceed on top of[f] the wall to the right, toward the Dung Gate.(V) 32 Hoshaiah and half the leaders of Judah followed them, 33 along with Azariah, Ezra, Meshullam, 34 Judah, Benjamin,(W) Shemaiah, Jeremiah, 35 as well as some priests with trumpets,(X) and also Zechariah son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micaiah, the son of Zakkur, the son of Asaph, 36 and his associates—Shemaiah, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, Judah and Hanani—with musical instruments(Y) prescribed by David the man of God.(Z) Ezra(AA) the teacher of the Law led the procession. 37 At the Fountain Gate(AB) they continued directly up the steps of the City of David on the ascent to the wall and passed above the site of David’s palace to the Water Gate(AC) on the east.
38 The second choir proceeded in the opposite direction. I followed them on top of[g] the wall, together with half the people—past the Tower of the Ovens(AD) to the Broad Wall,(AE) 39 over the Gate of Ephraim,(AF) the Jeshanah[h] Gate,(AG) the Fish Gate,(AH) the Tower of Hananel(AI) and the Tower of the Hundred,(AJ) as far as the Sheep Gate.(AK) At the Gate of the Guard they stopped.
40 The two choirs that gave thanks then took their places in the house of God; so did I, together with half the officials, 41 as well as the priests—Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah and Hananiah with their trumpets— 42 and also Maaseiah, Shemaiah, Eleazar, Uzzi, Jehohanan, Malkijah, Elam and Ezer. The choirs sang under the direction of Jezrahiah. 43 And on that day they offered great sacrifices, rejoicing because God had given them great joy. The women and children also rejoiced. The sound of rejoicing in Jerusalem could be heard far away.
44 At that time men were appointed to be in charge of the storerooms(AL) for the contributions, firstfruits and tithes.(AM) From the fields around the towns they were to bring into the storerooms the portions required by the Law for the priests and the Levites, for Judah was pleased with the ministering priests and Levites.(AN) 45 They performed the service of their God and the service of purification, as did also the musicians and gatekeepers, according to the commands of David(AO) and his son Solomon.(AP) 46 For long ago, in the days of David and Asaph,(AQ) there had been directors for the musicians and for the songs of praise(AR) and thanksgiving to God. 47 So in the days of Zerubbabel and of Nehemiah, all Israel contributed the daily portions for the musicians and the gatekeepers. They also set aside the portion for the other Levites, and the Levites set aside the portion for the descendants of Aaron.(AS)

Priests and Levites
12 These are the priests and Levites who returned with Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and with Jeshua. There were Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra, 2 Amariah, Malluch, Hattush, 3 Shecaniah, Rehum, Meremoth, 4 Iddo, Ginnethon, Abijah, 5 Mijamin, Moadiah, Bilgah, 6 Shemaiah, Joiarib, Jedaiah, 7 Sallu, Amok, Hilkiah, and Jedaiah. They were the leaders of the priests and their relatives in the days of Jeshua.
8 The Levites were Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah. Mattaniah and his relatives were in charge of the songs of thanksgiving. 9 Bakbukiah and Unni, their relatives, stood across from them in the services.
10 Jeshua was the father of Joiakim. Joiakim was the father of Eliashib. Eliashib was the father of Joiada. 11 Joiada was the father of Jonathan, and Jonathan was the father of Jaddua.
12 In the days of Joiakim, these priests were the leaders of the families of priests: Meraiah, from Seraiah’s family; Hananiah, from Jeremiah’s family; 13 Meshullam, from Ezra’s family; Jehohanan, from Amariah’s family; 14 Jonathan, from Malluch’s family; Joseph, from Shecaniah’s family; 15 Adna, from Harim’s family; Helkai, from Meremoth’s family; 16 Zechariah, from Iddo’s family; Meshullam, from Ginnethon’s family; 17 Zicri, from Abijah’s family; Piltai, from Miniamin’s and Moadiah’s families; 18 Shammua, from Bilgah’s family; Jehonathan, from Shemaiah’s family; 19 Mattenai, from Joiarib’s family; Uzzi, from Jedaiah’s family; 20 Kallai, from Sallu’s family; Eber, from Amok’s family; 21 Hashabiah, from Hilkiah’s family; and Nethanel, from Jedaiah’s family.
22 The leaders of the families of the Levites and the priests were written down in the days of Eliashib, Joiada, Johanan, and Jaddua, while Darius the Persian was king. 23 The family leaders among the Levites were written down in the history book, but only up to the time of Johanan son of Eliashib. 24 The leaders of the Levites were Hashabiah, Sherebiah, Jeshua son of Kadmiel, and their relatives. Their relatives stood across from them and gave praise and thanksgiving to God. One group answered the other group, as David, the man of God, had commanded.
25 These were the gatekeepers who guarded the storerooms next to the gates: Mattaniah, Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, and Akkub. 26 They served in the days of Joiakim son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak. They also served in the days of Nehemiah the governor and Ezra the priest and teacher.
The Wall of Jerusalem
27 When the wall of Jerusalem was offered as a gift to God, they asked the Levites to come from wherever they lived to Jerusalem to celebrate with joy the gift of the wall. They were to celebrate with songs of thanksgiving and with the music of cymbals, harps, and lyres. 28 They also brought together singers from all around Jerusalem, from the Netophathite villages, 29 from Beth Gilgal, and from the areas of Geba and Azmaveth. The singers had built villages for themselves around Jerusalem. 30 The priests and Levites made themselves pure, and they also made the people, the gates, and the wall of Jerusalem pure.
31 I had the leaders of Judah go up on top of the wall, and I appointed two large choruses to give thanks. One chorus went to the right on top of the wall, toward the Trash Gate. 32 Behind them went Hoshaiah and half the leaders of Judah. 33 Azariah, Ezra, Meshullam, 34 Judah, Benjamin, Shemaiah, and Jeremiah also went. 35 Some priests with trumpets also went, along with Zechariah son of Jonathan. (Jonathan was the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah. Mattaniah was the son of Micaiah, the son of Zaccur. Zaccur was the son of Asaph.) 36 Zechariah’s relatives also went. They were Shemaiah, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, Judah, and Hanani. These men played the musical instruments of David, the man of God, and Ezra the teacher walked in front of them. 37 They went from the Fountain Gate straight up the steps to the highest part of the wall by the older part of the city. They went on above the house of David to the Water Gate on the east.
38 The second chorus went to the left, while I followed them on top of the wall with half the people. We went from the Tower of the Ovens to the Broad Wall, 39 over the Gate of Ephraim to the Old Gate and the Fish Gate, to the Tower of Hananel and the Tower of the Hundred. We went as far as the Sheep Gate and stopped at the Gate of the Guard.
40 The two choruses took their places at the Temple. Half of the leaders and I did also. 41 These priests were there with their trumpets: Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah. 42 These people were also there: Maaseiah, Shemaiah, Eleazar, Uzzi, Jehohanan, Malkijah, Elam, and Ezer. The choruses sang, led by Jezrahiah. 43 The people offered many sacrifices that day and were happy because God had given them great joy. The women and children were happy. The sound of happiness in Jerusalem could be heard far away.
44 At that time the leaders appointed men to be in charge of the storerooms. These rooms were for the gifts, the firstfruits, and the ten percent that the people brought. The Teachings said they should bring a share for the priests and Levites from the fields around the towns. The people of Judah were happy to do this for the priests and Levites who served. 45 They performed the service of their God in making things pure. The singers and gatekeepers also did their jobs, as David had commanded his son Solomon. 46 Earlier, in the time of David and Asaph, there was a leader of the singers and of the songs of praise and thanksgiving to God. 47 So it was in the days of Zerubbabel and Nehemiah. All the people of Israel gave something to the singers and gatekeepers, and they also set aside part for the Levites. Then the Levites set aside part for the descendants of Aaron.
