² I gave ^(A)my brother Hanani and Hananiah the governor of ^(B)the castle charge over Jerusalem, for he was ^(C)a more faithful and God-fearing man than many.

² that ^(A)Hanani, one of my brothers, came with certain men from Judah. And I asked them concerning the Jews who escaped, who had survived the exile, and concerning Jerusalem.

²¹ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and ^(A)faithful servant.^{[a] (B)}You have been faithful over a little; ^(C)I will set you over much. Enter into ^(D)the joy of your master.’

²³ Hoshea, Hananiah, Hasshub,

⁸ and a letter to Asaph, the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of ^(A)the fortress of the temple, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall occupy.” And the king granted me what I asked, ^(B)for the good hand of my God was upon me.

^10 (A)“One who is ^(B)faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. ¹¹ If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? ¹² And if you have not been faithful in ^(C)that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own?

³ And Ahab called Obadiah, who was ^(A)over the household. (Now Obadiah feared the Lord greatly,

² and ^(A)what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses ^(B)entrust to faithful men,^{[a] (C)}who will be able to teach others also.

² Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.
