¹⁰ They will be entangled among thorns^(A)
    and drunk^(B) from their wine;
    they will be consumed like dry stubble.^[a](C)

¹¹ You too will become drunk;^(A)
    you will go into hiding^(B)
    and seek refuge from the enemy.

¹⁸ Surely wickedness burns like a fire;^(A)
    it consumes briers and thorns,^(B)
it sets the forest thickets ablaze,^(C)
    so that it rolls upward in a column of smoke.

²⁴ Therefore, as tongues of fire^(A) lick up straw^(B)
    and as dry grass sinks down in the flames,
so their roots will decay^(C)
    and their flowers blow away like dust;^(D)
for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty
    and spurned the word^(E) of the Holy One^(F) of Israel.

⁵⁷ I will make her officials^(A) and wise^(B) men drunk,^(C)
    her governors, officers and warriors as well;
they will sleep^(D) forever and not awake,”
    declares the King,^(E) whose name is the Lord Almighty.

⁶ But evil men are all to be cast aside like thorns,^(A)
    which are not gathered with the hand.
⁷ Whoever touches thorns
    uses a tool of iron or the shaft of a spear;
    they are burned up where they lie.”
