Ruina total de Nínive
3 ¡Ay de la ciudad sanguinaria(A),
toda llena de mentira y de pillaje,
que nunca cesa en su rapiña!
2 Chasquido de látigos,
ruido del crujir de ruedas,
galopar de caballos,
y saltar de carros(B);
3 carga de caballería,
flamear de espadas,
fulgor de lanzas(C);
multitud de heridos,
montones de muertos(D),
innumerables[a] cadáveres;
tropiezan en los[b] cadáveres(E).
4 Todo por las muchas prostituciones de la ramera(F),
la encantadora, la maestra de hechizos(G),
que seduce[c] a las naciones con sus prostituciones(H)
y a los pueblos[d] con sus hechizos.
5 Heme aquí contra ti —declara el Señor de los ejércitos(I).
Levantaré[e] tus faldas sobre tu rostro(J),
y mostraré a las naciones tu desnudez
y a los reinos tu vergüenza(K).
6 Echaré sobre ti inmundicias[f](L),
te haré despreciable(M), y haré de ti un espectáculo(N).
7 Y sucederá que todo el que te vea
huirá de ti, y dirá:
«¡Asolada está Nínive!
¿Quién llorará por ella?».
¿Dónde te buscaré consoladores(O)?
8 ¿Eres tú mejor que Tebas[g](P),
la asentada junto al Nilo[h],
rodeada de aguas,
cuyo baluarte era el mar[i]
y las aguas[j] su muralla(Q)?
9 Etiopía[k] era su fortaleza(R),
también Egipto, y no tenía límite.
Fut(S) y Libia(T) estaban entre los que la[l] ayudaban.
10 Sin embargo ella fue desterrada,
llevada al cautiverio(U);
también sus niños fueron estrellados(V)
en todas las bocacalles(W);
sobre sus nobles echaron suertes(X),
y todos sus principales fueron atados con cadenas.
11 Tú también quedarás embriagada(Y),
estarás escondida(Z);
tú también buscarás refugio del enemigo.
12 Todas tus fortalezas son higueras
cargadas de brevas;
si se sacuden(AA), caen
en la boca de quien las va a comer(AB).
13 He aquí a tu pueblo: solo mujeres en medio de ti(AC).
A tus enemigos se abren de par en par
las puertas de tu tierra;
el fuego devora tus cerrojos(AD).
14 Abastécete de[m] agua para el asedio(AE),
refuerza tus fortalezas(AF),
métete en el lodo y pisa el barro,
toma el molde de ladrillos.
15 Allí te consumirá el fuego,
te destruirá la espada(AG),
te devorará como el pulgón(AH).
Multiplícate como el pulgón,
multiplícate como la langosta.
16 Has multiplicado tus mercaderes(AI)
más que las estrellas del cielo;
el pulgón despoja[n] y vuela.
17 Tus oficiales son como la langosta(AJ),
tus jefes como nubes de langostas(AK)
posados sobre las tapias
en un día de frío;
sale el sol, y se van,
y no se sabe donde están[o].
18 Duermen tus pastores(AL),
oh rey de Asiria(AM);
tus nobles(AN) reposan.
Tu pueblo está disperso por los montes(AO)
y no hay quien lo reúna.
19 No hay remedio para tu quebranto(AP),
tu herida es incurable(AQ).
Todos los que oigan noticias de ti
batirán palmas sobre ti(AR),
porque ¿sobre quién no pasó
continuamente tu maldad?

Julgamento do Senhor contra Nínive
3 Que aflição espera Nínive,
cidade de homicídio e mentiras!
É cheia de riquezas tomadas à força,
e nunca lhe faltam vítimas.
2 Ouçam o estalo de chicotes,
o estrondo de rodas!
Os cavalos vêm galopando,
e os carros de guerra sacodem sem parar.
3 Vejam as espadas faiscantes e as lanças reluzentes
quando passa a cavalaria!
Há incontáveis mortos,
montes de cadáveres.
Os corpos são tantos
que os vivos neles tropeçam.
4 Tudo isso porque Nínive,
prostituta bela,
dona de encantamentos mortais,
seduziu as nações com sua beleza.
Ensinou a elas sua magia
e enfeitiçou gente de toda parte.
5 “Sou seu inimigo!”,
diz o Senhor dos Exércitos.
“Agora levantarei suas vestes
e mostrarei às nações sua nudez e vergonha.
6 Cobrirei você de sujeira
e mostrarei ao mundo como é desprezível.
7 Todos que a virem se afastarão e dirão:
‘Nínive está arruinada!
Onde estão os que choram por ela?’.
Alguém lamentará sua destruição?”
8 Acaso você é melhor que a cidade de Tebas,[a]
situada junto ao rio Nilo e cercada de água?
Por todos os lados era protegida pelo rio,
e as águas eram seus muros.
9 A Etiópia[b] e a terra do Egito
lhe davam apoio ilimitado.
A naçõe de Pute e a Líbia
estavam entre seus aliados.
10 E, no entanto, Tebas foi conquistada,
e seus habitantes, levados como escravos.
Seus bebês foram lançados com violência
contra as pedras nas ruas.
Soldados tiraram sortes para decidir
quem levaria oficiais egípcios como servos;
todos os seus líderes foram acorrentados.
11 E você, Nínive, também tropeçará como um bêbado
e se esconderá de medo do inimigo que ataca.
12 Todas as suas fortalezas cairão;
serão devoradas como figos maduros
que caem na boca
de quem sacode a árvore.
13 Seus soldados ficarão fracos
e indefesos como mulheres.
Os portões de sua terra serão escancarados para o inimigo,
e fogo consumirá as trancas.
14 Prepare-se para o cerco!
Estoque água!
Reforce suas defesas!
Entre nos buracos para pisar o barro,
coloque-o nas formas
e faça tijolos para reparar os muros!
15 Mesmo assim, o fogo a devorará;
a espada a exterminará.
O inimigo a consumirá como gafanhotos
que devoram tudo pela frente.
Mesmo que você se multiplique como gafanhotos,
não haverá como escapar.
16 Seus comerciantes se tornaram
mais numerosos que as estrelas do céu.
Mas, como nuvem de gafanhotos,
devastam a terra e voam para longe.
17 Seus guardas[c] e oficiais também são como gafanhotos,
que se ajuntam sobre os muros nos dias frios.
Mas, como gafanhotos que voam embora quando o sol aparece,
todos vão para longe e desaparecem.
18 Seus líderes[d] dormem, ó rei assírio;
seus nobres estão mortos, estendidos no pó.
Seu povo está espalhado pelos montes,
e não há quem os reúna.
19 Não há cura para sua ferida;
ela é mortal.
Todos que ouvirem sobre sua destruição
baterão palmas de alegria.
Onde se poderá encontrar alguém
que não sofreu com sua constante crueldade?

3 Sa aba ng mabagsik na bayan! siya'y puspos na lubos ng kabulaanan at mga agaw; ang panghuhuli ay hindi tumitigil.
2 Ang higing ng panghagupit, at ang hugong ng pihit ng mga gulong, at ng mga madambang kabayo, at ng lukso ng mga karo,
3 Ang sakay ng mga mangangabayo, at ang kinang ng tabak; at ang kislap ng sibat, at isang karamihan na patay, ay malaking bunton ng mga bangkay, at walang katapusang mga bangkay; sila'y nangatitisod sa kanilang mga bangkay;
4 Dahil sa karamihan ng pagpapatutot ng minagandang patutot, na panguna ng pangeenkanto, na nagbibili ng mga bansa sa pamamagitan ng kaniyang pagpapatutot, at ng mga angkan sa pamamagitan ng kaniyang mga pangeenkanto.
5 Narito, ako'y laban sa iyo, sabi ng Panginoon ng mga hukbo, at aking ilililis ang iyong laylayan sa harap mo; at aking ipakikita sa mga bansa ang iyong kahubaran, at sa mga kaharian ang iyong kahihiyan.
6 At aking ihahagis sa iyo ang kasuklamsuklam na karumihan, at gagawin kitang hamak, at ilalagay kitang pinakakutya.
7 At mangyayari, na ang lahat na mangakakakita sa iyo, ay iilag sa iyo, at mangagsasabi, Ang Ninive ay nahahandusay na sira: sinong mananaghoy sa kaniya? saan ako hahanap ng mga mangaaliw sa iyo?
8 Ikaw baga'y mabuti pa sa Noamon, na natatayo sa gitna ng mga ilog, na may tubig sa palibot niya; na ang katibaya'y ang dagat, at ang kaniyang kuta ay nasa dagat?
9 Etiopia at Egipto ang kaniyang mga naging katibayan, at walang hanggan; Phut at Lubim ang iyong mga naging katulong.
10 Gayon ma'y siya'y nadala, siya'y pumasok sa pagkabihag; ang kaniyang mga anak naman ay pinagputolputol sa dulo ng lahat ng mga lansangan; at pinagsapalaran ang kaniyang mga marangal na tao, at ang lahat niyang mahal na tao ay nangasabiran ng mga tanikala.
11 Ikaw naman ay malalango; ikaw ay matatago; ikaw rin naman ay hahanap ng katibayan dahil sa kaaway.
12 Lahat ng iyong kuta ay magiging parang puno ng igos, na may unang hinog na mga igos: kung mga ugugin, nangalalaglag sa bibig ng kumakain.
13 Narito, ang iyong mga tao sa gitna mo ay mga babae; ang mga pintuang-bayan ng iyong lupain ay nangabubukas ng maluwang sa iyong mga kaaway: nilamon ng apoy ang iyong mga halang.
14 Umigib ka ng tubig sa pagkakubkob; tibayan mo ang iyong mga katibayan; pumasok ka sa putikan, at yapakan mo ang argamasa, tibayan mo ang hurno ng ladrillo.
15 Doon ka sasakmalin ng apoy; ihihiwalay ka ng tabak; sasakmalin kang parang uod: magpakarami kang gaya ng uod: magpakarami kang gaya ng balang.
16 Iyong pinarami ang iyong mga mangangalakal kay sa mga bituin sa langit: ang uod ay sumasamsam, at lumilipad.
17 Ang iyong mga prinsipe ay parang mga balang, at ang iyong mga pinuno ay parang kawan ng lukton, na nagsisihimpil sa mga bakod sa araw na malamig, nguni't pagka ang araw ay sumikat sila'y nagsisilipad, at ang kanilang dako ay hindi alam kung saan sila nangandoon.
18 Ang iyong mga pastor ay nangatutulog, Oh hari sa Asiria; ang iyong mga bayani ay nangagpapahinga; ang iyong bayan ay nangangalat sa mga bundok, at walang magpisan sa kanila.
19 Walang kagamutan sa iyong sakit: ang iyong sugat ay malubha: lahat na makabalita sa iyo ay nagsisipakpak ng kamay dahil sa iyo; sapagka't sinong hindi nadaanan ng iyong kasamaan?

3 Woe to the city of blood,(A)
full of lies,(B)
full of plunder,
never without victims!
2 The crack of whips,
the clatter of wheels,
galloping horses
and jolting chariots!
3 Charging cavalry,
flashing swords
and glittering spears!
Many casualties,
piles of dead,
bodies without number,
people stumbling over the corpses(C)—
4 all because of the wanton lust of a prostitute,
alluring, the mistress of sorceries,(D)
who enslaved nations by her prostitution(E)
and peoples by her witchcraft.
5 “I am against(F) you,” declares the Lord Almighty.
“I will lift your skirts(G) over your face.
I will show the nations your nakedness(H)
and the kingdoms your shame.
6 I will pelt you with filth,(I)
I will treat you with contempt(J)
and make you a spectacle.(K)
7 All who see you will flee(L) from you and say,
‘Nineveh(M) is in ruins(N)—who will mourn for her?’(O)
Where can I find anyone to comfort(P) you?”
8 Are you better than(Q) Thebes,(R)
situated on the Nile,(S)
with water around her?
The river was her defense,
the waters her wall.
9 Cush[a](T) and Egypt were her boundless strength;
Put(U) and Libya(V) were among her allies.
10 Yet she was taken captive(W)
and went into exile.
Her infants were dashed(X) to pieces
at every street corner.
Lots(Y) were cast for her nobles,

11 You too will become drunk;(AA)

and seek refuge from the enemy.
12 All your fortresses are like fig trees
with their first ripe fruit;(AC)
when they are shaken,
the figs(AD) fall into the mouth of the eater.
13 Look at your troops—
they are all weaklings.(AE)
The gates(AF) of your land
are wide open to your enemies;
fire has consumed the bars of your gates.(AG)
14 Draw water for the siege,(AH)
strengthen your defenses!(AI)
Work the clay,
tread the mortar,
repair the brickwork!
15 There the fire(AJ) will consume you;
the sword(AK) will cut you down—
they will devour you like a swarm of locusts.
Multiply like grasshoppers,
multiply like locusts!(AL)
16 You have increased the number of your merchants
till they are more numerous than the stars in the sky,

and then fly away.

your officials like swarms of locusts
that settle in the walls on a cold day—
but when the sun appears they fly away,
and no one knows where.
