3 AY de la ciudad de sangres, toda llena de mentira y de rapiña, sin apartarse de ella el pillaje!
2 Sonido de látigo, y estruendo de movimiento de ruedas; y caballo atropellador, y carro saltador;
3 Caballero enhiesto, y resplandor de espada, y resplandor de lanza; y multitud de muertos, y multitud de cadáveres; y de sus cadáveres no habrá fin, y en sus cadáveres tropezarán:
4 A causa de la multitud de las fornicaciones de la ramera de hermosa gala, maestra de brujerías, que vende las gentes con sus fornicaciones, y los pueblos con sus hechizos.
5 Heme aquí contra ti, dice Jehová de los ejércitos, y descubriré tus faldas en tu cara, y mostraré á las gentes tu desnudez, y á los reinos tu vergüenza.
6 Y echaré sobre ti suciedades, y te afrentaré, y te pondré como estiércol.
7 Y será que todos los que te vieren, se apartarán de ti, y dirán: Nínive es asolada: ¿quién se compadecerá de ella? ¿dónde te buscaré consoladores?
8 ¿Eres tú mejor que No-amón, que estaba asentada entre ríos, cercada de aguas, cuyo baluarte era la mar, y del mar su muralla?
9 Etiopía era su fortaleza, y Egipto sin límite; Put y Libia fueron en tu ayuda.
10 También ella fué llevada en cautiverio: también sus chiquitos fueron estrellados en las encrucijadas de todas las calles; y sobre sus varones echaron suertes, y todos sus magnates fueron aprisionados con grillos.
11 Tú también serás embriagada, serás encerrada; tú también buscarás fortaleza á causa del enemigo.
12 Todas tus fortalezas cual higueras con brevas; que si las sacuden, caen en la boca del que las ha de comer.
13 He aquí, tu pueblo será como mujeres en medio de ti: las puertas de tu tierra se abrirán de par en par á tus enemigos: fuego consumirá tus barras.
14 Provéete de agua para el cerco, fortifica tus fortalezas; entra en el lodo, pisa el barro, fortifica el horno.
15 Allí te consumirá el fuego, te talará la espada, te devorará como pulgón: multiplícate como langosta, multiplícate como langosta.
16 Multiplicaste tus mercaderes más que las estrellas del cielo: el pulgón hizo presa, y voló.
17 Tus príncipes serán como langostas, y tus grandes como langostas de langostas que se sientan en vallados en día de frío: salido el sol se mudan, y no se conoce el lugar donde estuvieron.
18 Durmieron tus pastores, oh rey de Asiria, reposaron tus valientes: tu pueblo se derramó por los montes, y no hay quien lo junte.
19 No hay cura para tu quebradura; tu herida se encrudeció: todos los que oyeron tu fama, batirán las manos sobre ti, porque ¿sobre quién no pasó continuamente tu malicia?

3 Khốn thay cho thành làm đổ máu,
Toàn mưu chước lừa dối,
Chứa đầy của cướp giật,
Mồi chất không hề vơi!
2 Kìa, tiếng roi vun vút,
Tiếng bánh xe rầm rầm,
Vó ngựa phi dồn dập,
Xe chiến mã chồm lên lao thẳng tới.
3 Kỵ binh xông ào đến,
Gươm vung lấp loáng,
Giáo phóng như chớp.
Bao nhiêu là thương vong,
Tử thi chất thành đống,
Xác chết nhiều vô số,
Chúng đạp lên, vấp ngã!
4 Vì vô số sự tà dâm của gái điếm quyến rũ,
Nữ chủ của các phép tà thuật.
Kẻ bán các nước bởi những sự tà dâm mình,
Và bán các dân thông qua sự tà thuật mình.
5 CHÚA Vạn Quân phán:
Này, Ta chống nghịch ngươi:
Ta sẽ kéo váy ngươi lên phủ mặt ngươi,
Cho các dân tộc thấy ngươi lõa lồ,
Cho các vương quốc thấy ngươi ô nhục.
6 Ta sẽ ném vật ô uế lên mình ngươi,
Khiến ngươi bị khinh miệt,
Bêu ngươi lên cho người ta thấy.
7 Bấy giờ, mọi kẻ nhìn thấy ngươi sẽ rùng mình, quay đi và nói:
Ni-ni-ve đổ nát điêu tàn! Ai sẽ than khóc nó?
Ta tìm đâu cho ngươi những người an ủi?

8 Ngươi có trội hơn Nô-A-môn,
Thành phố nằm bên bờ sông Ninh,
Có nước bao quanh,
Có biển làm chiến lũy,
Nước làm tường thành không?
9 Cu-sơ[a] và Ai-cập là sức mạnh của nó, quyền lực nó vô hạn.
Pút[b] và Lu-bim[c] là đồng minh của nó.
10 Thế nhưng Nô-A-môn vẫn bị lưu đày,
Bị đưa đi làm phu tù.
Con thơ nó vẫn bị ném vào đá tan xác
Ở khắp các ngả đường góc phố.
Người ta bắt thăm chia nhau hàng quý tộc,
Mọi kẻ quyền cao của nó đều phải mang xiềng.
11 Ngươi cũng vậy, ngươi cũng sẽ say mèm,
Mê man bất tỉnh.
Ngươi cũng vậy, ngươi sẽ tìm nơi ẩn núp
Để trốn khỏi kẻ thù.
12 Mọi thành trì kiên cố của ngươi
Là những cây vả đầy trái chín đầu mùa;
Chỉ cần rung cây, trái sẽ rụng xuống,
Rơi ngay vào miệng người ăn!
13 Kìa, quân sĩ trong xứ ngươi là đàn bà!
Cửa ải đất nước ngươi mở rộng đón quân thù.
Lửa đã thiêu nuốt các then cài ngang cổng.

14 Hãy kéo nước lên dự trữ phòng khi bị vây hãm!
Hãy củng cố thành trì!
Hãy nhào nặn đất sét,
Đạp hồ, chuẩn bị khuôn làm gạch!
15 Dù vậy tại nơi đó, lửa sẽ thiêu nuốt ngươi,
Gươm sẽ hủy diệt ngươi,
Ăn nuốt ngươi như cào cào ăn sạch mùa màng.
Hãy tăng cường quân số như cào cào!
Hãy tăng cường như châu chấu!
16 Ngươi đã tăng thêm số thương gia
Nhiều hơn sao trên trời.
Nhưng tất cả đều như cào cào
Dang cánh bay xa.
17 Các quan chức trong triều của ngươi đông như châu chấu,
Các tướng lãnh của ngươi như đàn cào cào
Đóng trại trên các tường rào trong ngày giá lạnh.
Khi mặt trời mọc lên, cào cào bay mất.
Không ai biết chúng bay đi nơi nào.
18 Hoàng đế A-si-ri, những kẻ chăn của ngươi đã ngủ,
Hàng quý tộc của ngươi đã an giấc ngàn thu!
Dân ngươi tản lạc trên các núi đồi,
Không ai tập họp chúng về.
19 Vết thương ngươi không phương cứu chữa,
Vết đòn ngươi thật trầm trọng.
Ai nghe tin ngươi bị thương vong,
Đều vỗ tay mừng rỡ.
Thật, có ai thoát khỏi sự thống trị
Tàn ác vô biên của ngươi đâu?

Woe to Nineveh
3 Woe to the city of blood,(A)
full of lies,(B)
full of plunder,
never without victims!
2 The crack of whips,
the clatter of wheels,
galloping horses
and jolting chariots!
3 Charging cavalry,
flashing swords
and glittering spears!
Many casualties,
piles of dead,
bodies without number,
people stumbling over the corpses(C)—
4 all because of the wanton lust of a prostitute,
alluring, the mistress of sorceries,(D)
who enslaved nations by her prostitution(E)
and peoples by her witchcraft.
5 “I am against(F) you,” declares the Lord Almighty.
“I will lift your skirts(G) over your face.
I will show the nations your nakedness(H)
and the kingdoms your shame.
6 I will pelt you with filth,(I)
I will treat you with contempt(J)
and make you a spectacle.(K)
7 All who see you will flee(L) from you and say,
‘Nineveh(M) is in ruins(N)—who will mourn for her?’(O)
Where can I find anyone to comfort(P) you?”
8 Are you better than(Q) Thebes,(R)
situated on the Nile,(S)
with water around her?
The river was her defense,
the waters her wall.
9 Cush[a](T) and Egypt were her boundless strength;
Put(U) and Libya(V) were among her allies.
10 Yet she was taken captive(W)
and went into exile.
Her infants were dashed(X) to pieces
at every street corner.
Lots(Y) were cast for her nobles,
and all her great men were put in chains.(Z)
11 You too will become drunk;(AA)
you will go into hiding(AB)
and seek refuge from the enemy.
12 All your fortresses are like fig trees
with their first ripe fruit;(AC)
when they are shaken,
the figs(AD) fall into the mouth of the eater.
13 Look at your troops—
they are all weaklings.(AE)
The gates(AF) of your land
are wide open to your enemies;
fire has consumed the bars of your gates.(AG)
14 Draw water for the siege,(AH)
strengthen your defenses!(AI)
Work the clay,
tread the mortar,
repair the brickwork!
15 There the fire(AJ) will consume you;
the sword(AK) will cut you down—
they will devour you like a swarm of locusts.
Multiply like grasshoppers,
multiply like locusts!(AL)
16 You have increased the number of your merchants
till they are more numerous than the stars in the sky,
but like locusts(AM) they strip the land
and then fly away.
17 Your guards are like locusts,(AN)
your officials like swarms of locusts
that settle in the walls on a cold day—
but when the sun appears they fly away,
and no one knows where.
18 King of Assyria, your shepherds[b] slumber;(AO)
your nobles lie down to rest.(AP)
Your people are scattered(AQ) on the mountains
with no one to gather them.
19 Nothing can heal you;(AR)
your wound is fatal.
All who hear the news about you
clap their hands(AS) at your fall,
for who has not felt
your endless cruelty?(AT)
