1 Profecía acerca de Nínive. Libro de la visión que tuvo Nahúm de Elcós.
Manifestación del Señor
2 El Señor es un Dios celoso y vengador.
Señor de la venganza, Señor de la ira.
El Señor se venga de sus adversarios;
es implacable con sus enemigos.
3 El Señor es lento para la ira,
pero grande en poder.
El Señor no deja sin castigo al culpable.
Camina en el huracán y en la tormenta;
las nubes son el polvo de sus pies.
4 Reprende al mar y lo seca;
hace que todos los ríos se evaporen.
Los montes Basán y Carmelo pierden su lozanía;
el verdor del Líbano se marchita.
5 Ante él tiemblan las montañas
y se desmoronan las colinas.
Ante él se agita la tierra,
el mundo y todos los que en él habitan.
6 ¿Quién podrá resistir su indignación?
¿Quién podrá soportar el ardor de su ira?
Su furor se derrama como fuego;
ante él se resquebrajan las rocas.
Destrucción de Nínive
7 Bueno es el Señor;
es refugio en el día de la angustia
y conoce a los que en él confían.
8 Pero destruirá a Nínive[a]
con una inundación arrasadora;
¡aun en las tinieblas perseguirá a sus enemigos!
9 ¿Qué traman contra el Señor?
Él desbaratará sus planes;
la calamidad no se repetirá.
10 Serán consumidos como paja seca,
como espinos enmarañados,
como borrachos ahogados en vino.
11 De ti, Nínive, salió
el que trama el mal contra el Señor,
el que aconseja perversidades.
Liberación del opresor
12 Así dice el Señor:
«Aunque sean fuertes y numerosos,
serán arrancados y desaparecerán.
Aunque te he afligido,
no te afligiré más.
13 Voy a quebrar el yugo que te oprime,
voy a romper tus ataduras».
14 Pero acerca de ti, Nínive,
el Señor ha decretado:
«No tendrás descendientes que perpetúen tu nombre;
eliminaré de la casa de tus dioses
las imágenes talladas y las imágenes fundidas.
Te voy a preparar una tumba,
porque eres una infame».

15 ¡Miren! Ya se acerca por los montes
el que anuncia las buenas nuevas,
el que proclama la paz.
¡Celebra tus fiestas, Judá!
¡Paga tus promesas!
Porque no volverán a invadirte los malvados,
pues han sido destruidos por completo.

1 Libro de la profecía que Nahúm de Elcós recibió por revelación. Éste es el mensaje dirigido a la ciudad de Nínive.
2 El Señor es Dios celoso y vengador:
se venga de los que se le oponen,
y se enoja con sus enemigos.
3 El Señor es paciente pero poderoso,
y no dejará de castigar al culpable.
El Señor camina sobre la tormenta,
y las nubes son el polvo de sus pies.
4 Amenaza al mar, y lo seca.
Hace que se sequen todos los ríos.
Los campos de Basán
y el monte Carmelo se marchitan,
y se marchitan también las flores del Líbano.
5 Ante él tiemblan las montañas;
los cerros se derriten en su presencia.
Toda la tierra se estremece al verlo;
todo el mundo y los que en él viven.
6 ¿Quién podrá mantenerse de pie ante su ira?
¿Quién podrá resistir su enojo?
Su furia se derrama como fuego,
y ante él se parten en dos las peñas.
7 El Señor es bueno;
es un refugio en horas de angustia:
protege a los que en él confían.
8 Pero, como inundación que todo lo arrasa,
destruye a los que se le oponen;
la oscuridad alcanzará a sus enemigos.
9 ¿Qué están tramando ustedes en contra del Señor?
¡Él los destruirá por completo!
¡Nadie puede oponérsele dos veces!
10 Pues como espinos enmarañados,
como paja seca, serán quemados por completo.
11 De ti, Nínive, salió el que trama
lo malo en contra del Señor:
un malvado consejero.
12 Por eso dice el Señor a su pueblo:
«Aunque los asirios sean fuertes y numerosos,
serán destruidos y pasarán.
Yo te he hecho sufrir,
pero no te haré sufrir más.
13 Haré pedazos el yugo que tienes encima
y romperé tus cadenas.»
14 El Señor ordenó respecto a ti, rey de Nínive:
«No tendrás descendientes que continúen tu nombre;
del templo de tu dios destruiré
los ídolos y las estatuas,
y allí te voy a enterrar porque eres despreciable.»

15 (2.1) ¡Miren! ¡Ya viene sobre los montes
el mensajero que trae noticias de paz!
Celebra tus fiestas, Judá;
cumple tus promesas.
Nunca más te invadirán los malvados;
han sido destruidos por completo.

1 A prophecy(A) concerning Nineveh.(B) The book of the vision(C) of Nahum the Elkoshite.
The Lord’s Anger Against Nineveh
2 The Lord is a jealous(D) and avenging God;
the Lord takes vengeance(E) and is filled with wrath.
The Lord takes vengeance on his foes
and vents his wrath against his enemies.(F)
3 The Lord is slow to anger(G) but great in power;
the Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished.(H)
His way is in the whirlwind(I) and the storm,(J)
and clouds(K) are the dust of his feet.
4 He rebukes(L) the sea and dries it up;(M)
he makes all the rivers run dry.
Bashan and Carmel(N) wither
and the blossoms of Lebanon fade.
5 The mountains quake(O) before him
and the hills melt away.(P)
The earth trembles(Q) at his presence,
the world and all who live in it.(R)
6 Who can withstand(S) his indignation?
Who can endure(T) his fierce anger?(U)
His wrath is poured out like fire;(V)
the rocks are shattered(W) before him.
7 The Lord is good,(X)
a refuge in times of trouble.(Y)
He cares for(Z) those who trust in him,(AA)
8 but with an overwhelming flood(AB)
he will make an end of Nineveh;
he will pursue his foes into the realm of darkness.
9 Whatever they plot(AC) against the Lord
he will bring[a] to an end;
trouble will not come a second time.
10 They will be entangled among thorns(AD)
and drunk(AE) from their wine;
they will be consumed like dry stubble.[b](AF)
11 From you, Nineveh, has one come forth
who plots evil against the Lord
and devises wicked plans.
12 This is what the Lord says:
“Although they have allies and are numerous,
they will be destroyed(AG) and pass away.
Although I have afflicted you, Judah,
I will afflict you no more.(AH)
13 Now I will break their yoke(AI) from your neck
and tear your shackles away.”(AJ)

1 Sách ghi lại lời Đức Chúa Trời báo trước về thành Ni-ni-ve cho Na-hum, người làng Ên-cốt, qua khải tượng.
Ca Ngợi CHÚA
2 CHÚA ghen tương và báo thù;
CHÚA báo thù và đầy thịnh nộ.
CHÚA trừng phạt,
những kẻ chống nghịch Ngài
Và duy trì cơn giận,
Đối với những kẻ thù ghét Ngài.
3 CHÚA chậm nóng giận và quyền năng vĩ đại,
CHÚA không hề để kẻ phạm tội thoát khỏi hình phạt.
Cuồng phong bão táp nổi dậy nơi nào Ngài bước đến,
Mây là bụi do chân Ngài hất lên.
4 Ngài quở biển, khiến nó khô cạn,
Ngài làm cho mọi sông ngòi cạn tắt.
Đồng cỏ Ba-san và vườn cây trái trên sườn núi Cạt-mên khô héo,
Rừng hoa trên dãy núi Li-ban úa tàn.
5 Ngài xuất hiện các núi rúng động,
Các đồi tan chảy;
Trước mặt Ngài, đất rung chuyển
Toàn cầu chấn động, mọi người đều run sợ.
6 Trước cơn phẫn nộ của Ngài, ai đứng vững nổi?
Ai chịu nổi sức nóng của cơn giận Ngài?
Cơn thịnh nộ của Ngài trút xuống như lửa,
Đá tảng cũng phải vỡ tan trước mặt Ngài.
7 CHÚA là thiện,
Ngài là thành trì kiên cố trong ngày hoạn nạn,
Ngài chăm sóc những ai nương náu trong Ngài.
8 Nhưng Ngài dùng nước lũ dâng tràn tận diệt chỗ của nó.
Những kẻ thù ghét Ngài,
Ngài xua đuổi vào cõi tối tăm.
9 Các ngươi mưu đồ gì chống lại CHÚA?
Ngài sẽ diệt sạch các ngươi!
Hoạn nạn áp bức không thể nổi dậy lần thứ hai!
10 Trong khi đang bị mắc mớ bùng nhùng như bụi gai,
Và bị say như kẻ say.
Chúng sẽ bị thiêu rụi như rơm khô.
11 Từ nơi ngươi sẽ xuất hiện
Kẻ mưu toan điều ác chống lại CHÚA,
Kẻ bày mưu lập kế gian manh.

12 CHÚA phán như vầy:
Dù chúng có mạnh mẽ và đông đảo,
Chúng sẽ bị hủy diệt và tiêu tan.
Ta đã khiến ngươi bị khổ nhục,
Ta sẽ không để ngươi bị khổ nhục nữa.
13 Giờ đây, Ta sẽ bẻ gãy ách của chúng đang đè trên các ngươi,
Và bứt đứt dây trói buộc các ngươi.
14 CHÚA truyền lệnh này về quân A-si-ri:
Danh ngươi sẽ không còn được lưu truyền nữa,
Ta sẽ dẹp bỏ tượng tạc, tượng đúc
Khỏi miếu thần của ngươi,
Ta sẽ chuẩn bị phần mộ cho ngươi,
Vì ngươi hèn mạt.
15 Kìa, bàn chân của sứ giả báo tin mừng
Vượt qua các núi đồi,
Loan báo “Bình an!”
Hỡi Giu-đa, hãy cử hành các ngày lễ,
Hãy hoàn thành lời ngươi hứa nguyện,
Vì kẻ độc ác sẽ không còn xâm chiếm ngươi nữa,
Nó sẽ bị tận diệt.
