Institution of the Lord's Supper
22 (A)And as they were eating, he took bread, and after (B)blessing it broke it and gave it to them, and said, “Take; (C)this is my body.” 23 And he took a cup, and when he had (D)given thanks he gave it to them, and they all drank of it. 24 And he said to them, (E)“This is my (F)blood of the[a] covenant, which is poured out for (G)many. 25 Truly, I say to you, I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”
Jesus Foretells Peter's Denial
26 (H)And when they had sung a hymn, (I)they went out to (J)the Mount of Olives. 27 And Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away, for it is written, ‘I will (K)strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’ 28 But after I am raised up, (L)I will go before you to Galilee.” 29 (M)Peter said to him, “Even though they all fall away, I will not.” 30 And (N)Jesus said to him, “Truly, I tell you, this very night, before (O)the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” 31 But (P)he said emphatically, “If I must die with you, I will not deny you.” And they all said the same.
Jesus Prays in Gethsemane
32 (Q)And they went (R)to a place called Gethsemane. And he said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” 33 And he took with him (S)Peter and James and John, and began (T)to be greatly distressed and troubled. 34 And he said to them, (U)“My soul is very sorrowful, even to death. Remain here and (V)watch.”[b] 35 And going a little farther, he fell on the ground (W)and prayed that, if it were possible, (X)the hour might pass from him. 36 And he said, (Y)“Abba, Father, (Z)all things are possible for you. Remove (AA)this cup from me. (AB)Yet not what I will, but what you will.” 37 And he came and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, “Simon, are you asleep? Could you not watch one hour? 38 (AC)Watch and (AD)pray that you may not (AE)enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” 39 And again he went away and prayed, (AF)saying the same words. 40 And again he came and found them sleeping, for (AG)their eyes were very heavy, and (AH)they did not know what to answer him. 41 And he came the third time and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? (AI)It is enough; (AJ)the hour has come. (AK)The Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 42 Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand.”
Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus
43 (AL)And immediately, while he was still speaking, (AM)Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. 44 Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “The one I will kiss is the man. Seize him and lead him away under guard.” 45 And when he came, he went up to him at once and said, (AN)“Rabbi!” And he (AO)kissed him. 46 And they laid hands on him and seized him. 47 But one of those who stood by drew his (AP)sword and struck the servant[c] of the high priest and cut off his ear. 48 And Jesus said to them, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to capture me? 49 (AQ)Day after day I was with you in the temple (AR)teaching, and you did not seize me. But (AS)let the Scriptures be fulfilled.” 50 (AT)And they all left him and fled.

23 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it.(B)
24 “This is my blood of the[a] covenant,(C) which is poured out for many,” he said to them. 25 “Truly I tell you, I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”(D)
26 When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.(E)
Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial(F)
27 “You will all fall away,” Jesus told them, “for it is written:
28 But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.”(H)
29 Peter declared, “Even if all fall away, I will not.”
30 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “today—yes, tonight—before the rooster crows twice[c] you yourself will disown me three times.”(I)
31 But Peter insisted emphatically, “Even if I have to die with you,(J) I will never disown you.” And all the others said the same.
Gethsemane(K)
32 They went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” 33 He took Peter, James and John(L) along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. 34 “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,”(M) he said to them. “Stay here and keep watch.”
35 Going a little farther, he fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour(N) might pass from him. 36 “Abba,[d] Father,”(O) he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup(P) from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”(Q)
37 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Simon,” he said to Peter, “are you asleep? Couldn’t you keep watch for one hour? 38 Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.(R) The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”(S)
39 Once more he went away and prayed the same thing. 40 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. They did not know what to say to him.
41 Returning the third time, he said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Enough! The hour(T) has come. Look, the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. 42 Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!”
Jesus Arrested(U)
43 Just as he was speaking, Judas,(V) one of the Twelve, appeared. With him was a crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests, the teachers of the law, and the elders.
44 Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The one I kiss is the man; arrest him and lead him away under guard.” 45 Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, “Rabbi!”(W) and kissed him. 46 The men seized Jesus and arrested him. 47 Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.
48 “Am I leading a rebellion,” said Jesus, “that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? 49 Every day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts,(X) and you did not arrest me. But the Scriptures must be fulfilled.”(Y) 50 Then everyone deserted him and fled.(Z)
