A gonosz vezetők és a hamis próféták ellen
3 Ezt mondtam: Halljátok meg, Jákób elöljárói, Izráel házának vezetői! Nem tinektek kell-e ismerni a törvényt?
2 Ti gyűlölitek a jót, és szeretitek a rosszat! Lenyúzzátok az emberekről a bőrt, és csontjaikról a húst.
3 Ti megettétek népem húsát, lenyúztátok róluk a bőrt, csontjaikat összetörtétek, és feldaraboltátok, mint a húst, amely fazékba vagy bográcsba kerül.
4 Majd kiáltanak még az Úrhoz, de ő nem válaszol nekik, hanem elrejti orcáját előlük akkor, mert gonosz tetteket követtek el.
5 Ezt mondja az Úr azokról a prófétákról, akik félrevezetik népemet, akik békességet hirdetnek, ha van harapnivalójuk, de hadat indítanak az ellen, aki nem ad nekik enni:
6 Olyan éjszaka száll rátok, amelyben nem lesz látomás, és olyan sötétség, amelyben nem lesz jövendölés. Leáldozik a próféták napja, nappal is sötétség borul rájuk.
7 Szégyent vallanak a látnokok, pironkodnak a jósok, eltakarják arcukat mindnyájan, mert nem kapnak választ Istentől.
8 Engem azonban betölt az Úr lelke erővel, igazsággal és hatalommal, hogy megmondjam Jákóbnak a bűnét, Izráelnek a vétkét.
9 Halljátok meg ezt, Jákób házának elöljárói, Izráel házának vezetői, akik utáljátok a törvényt, és minden igaz ügyet kiforgattok!
10 Vérontással építitek a Siont, álnoksággal Jeruzsálemet!
11 Elöljárói megvesztegetve bíráskodnak, papjai megkérik az árát a tanításnak, prófétái pénzért jósolnak, és még az Úrra hivatkozva mondják: Közöttünk van az Úr, nem érhet minket baj!
12 Ezért miattatok felszántják a Siont, mint a mezőt, Jeruzsálem romhalmaz lesz, a templomhegy pedig erdős magaslat.

3 És mondám én: Halljátok, kérlek, Jákób fejedelmei és Izráel házának vezérei: Nem a ti tisztetek-é tudni az ítéletet?!
2 Ti, kik gyûlölitek a jót és kedvelitek a gonoszt! A kik levonszátok róluk bõrüket és csontjaikról az õ húsokat!
3 A kik megeszik az én népemnek húsát, és lenyúzzák róluk bõrüket, és összetörik csontjaikat, és feldarabolják, akár csak a fazékba, és mint húst a tálba.
4 Kiáltanak majd az Úrhoz, de nem hallgatja meg õket; sõt elrejti akkor orczáját elõlök, mivelhogy gonoszokká lettek cselekedeteik.
5 Így szól az Úr a próféták ellen, a kik elámítják az én népemet, a kik, ha van mit rágniok, békességet hirdetnek, az ellen pedig, a ki nem vet valamit szájokba, hadat indítanak.
6 Azért éjszaka [száll] rátok, hogy ne lássatok, és sötétség [jõ] rátok, hogy ne jövendölhessetek, és a nap lemegy a próféták felett, és elsötétül rajtok a nappal.
7 És megszégyenülnek a látók, és elpirulnak a jövendõmondók, és elfedik szájokat mindnyájan, mert nem lészen felelet Istentõl.
8 Én ellenben megteljesedem az Úr lelkének erejével, és ítélettel és hatalommal, hogy hirdessem Jákóbnak az õ vétkét, és Izráelnek az õ bûnét.
9 Halljátok ezt, kérlek, Jákób házának fejei és Izráel házának vezérei! a kik útáljátok az ítéletet, és minden igazságot elcsavartok;
10 A kik vérrel építitek a Siont, és Jeruzsálemet hamissággal!
11 [Kiknek] fejedelmei ajándékért ítélnek, és papjaik jutalomért tanítanak, és prófétáik pénzért jövendölnek, és mégis az Úrra támaszkodnak, mondván: Avagy nincsen-é közöttünk az Úr?! Nem következik mi reánk veszedelem!
12 Azért ti miattatok mezõvé szántatik a Sion, és kõhalommá lesz Jeruzsálem, a templom hegye pedig erdõs hegygyé.

3 And I said, Hear, I pray you, O heads of Jacob, and ye princes of the house of Israel; Is it not for you to know judgment?
2 Who hate the good, and love the evil; who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones;
3 Who also eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them; and they break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the caldron.
4 Then shall they cry unto the Lord, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings.
5 Thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him.
6 Therefore night shall be unto you, that ye shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine; and the sun shall go down over the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them.
7 Then shall the seers be ashamed, and the diviners confounded: yea, they shall all cover their lips; for there is no answer of God.
8 But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the Lord, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.
9 Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert all equity.
10 They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity.
11 The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the Lord, and say, Is not the Lord among us? none evil can come upon us.
12 Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.

Leaders and Prophets Rebuked
3 Then I said,
“Listen, you leaders(A) of Jacob,
you rulers of Israel.
Should you not embrace justice,
2 you who hate good and love evil;
who tear the skin from my people
and the flesh from their bones;(B)
3 who eat my people’s flesh,(C)
strip off their skin
and break their bones in pieces;(D)
who chop(E) them up like meat for the pan,
like flesh for the pot?(F)”
4 Then they will cry out to the Lord,
but he will not answer them.(G)
At that time he will hide his face(H) from them
because of the evil they have done.(I)
5 This is what the Lord says:
“As for the prophets
who lead my people astray,(J)
they proclaim ‘peace’(K)
if they have something to eat,
but prepare to wage war against anyone
who refuses to feed them.
6 Therefore night will come over you, without visions,
and darkness, without divination.(L)
The sun will set for the prophets,(M)
and the day will go dark for them.(N)
7 The seers will be ashamed(O)
and the diviners disgraced.(P)
They will all cover(Q) their faces(R)
because there is no answer from God.(S)”
8 But as for me, I am filled with power,
with the Spirit of the Lord,
and with justice and might,
to declare to Jacob his transgression,
to Israel his sin.(T)
9 Hear this, you leaders of Jacob,
you rulers of Israel,
who despise justice
and distort all that is right;(U)
10 who build(V) Zion with bloodshed,(W)
and Jerusalem with wickedness.(X)
11 Her leaders judge for a bribe,(Y)
her priests teach for a price,(Z)
and her prophets tell fortunes for money.(AA)
Yet they look(AB) for the Lord’s support and say,
“Is not the Lord among us?
No disaster will come upon us.”(AC)
12 Therefore because of you,
Zion will be plowed like a field,
Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble,(AD)
the temple(AE) hill a mound overgrown with thickets.(AF)

Wicked Rulers and Prophets
3 And I said:
“Hear now, O heads of Jacob,
And you (A)rulers of the house of Israel:
(B)Is it not for you to know justice?
2 You who hate good and love evil;

3 Who also (C)eat the flesh of My people,
Flay their skin from them,
Break their bones,
