Ah, come me l'ha portata via!

Wo [to] those devising iniquity, And working evil on their beds, In the light of the morning they do it, For their hand is -- to God.

And they have desired fields, And they have taken violently, And houses, and they have taken away, And have oppressed a man and his house, Even a man and his inheritance.

Therefore, thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am devising against this family evil, From which ye do not remove your necks, Nor walk loftily, for a time of evil it [is].

In that day doth [one] take up for you a simile, And he hath wailed a wailing of wo, He hath said, We have been utterly spoiled, The portion of my people He doth change, How doth He move toward me! To the backslider our fields He apportioneth.

Therefore, thou hast no caster of a line by lot In the assembly of Jehovah.

Ye do not prophesy -- they do prophesy, They do not prophesy to these, It doth not remove shame.

Doth the house of Jacob say, `Hath the Spirit of Jehovah been shortened? Are these His doings?' Do not My words benefit the people that is walking uprightly?

And yesterday My people for an enemy doth raise himself up, From the outer garment the honourable ornament ye strip off, From the confident passers by, Ye who are turning back from war.

The women of My people ye cast out from its delightful house, From its sucklings ye take away My honour to the age.

10 Rise and go, for this [is] not the rest, Because of uncleanness it doth corrupt, And corruption is powerful.

11 If one is going [with] the wind, And [with] falsehood hath lied: `I prophesy to thee of wine, and of strong drink,' He hath been the prophet of this people!

12 I do surely gather thee, O Jacob, all of thee, I surely bring together the remnant of Israel, Together I do set it as the flock of Bozrah, As a drove in the midst of its pasture, It maketh a noise because of man.

13 Gone up hath the breaker before them, They have broken through, Yea, they pass through the gate, Yea, they go out through it, And pass on doth their king before them, And Jehovah at their head!

1 Threatenings against the wanton and dainty people. 6 They would teach the Prophets to preach.

Woe unto them that imagine iniquity, and work wickedness upon their beds: [a]when the morning is light they practice it, because their hand [b]hath power.

And they covet fields, and take them by violence, and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even man and his heritage.

Therefore thus saith the Lord, Behold, against this family have I devised a plague, whereout ye shall not pluck your necks, and ye shall not go so proudly, for this time is evil.

In that day shall they take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation, and say, [c]We be utterly wasted: he hath changed the portion of my people: how hath he taken it away to restore it unto me? he hath divided our fields.

Therefore thou shalt have none that shall cast a cord by lot in [d]the congregation of the Lord.

[e]They that prophesy, Prophesy ye not. [f]They shall not prophesy to them, neither shall they take shame.

O thou that art named of the house of Jacob, is the Spirit of the Lord shortened? [g]are these his works? are not my works good unto him [h]that walketh uprightly?

But he that was [i]yesterday my people, is risen up on the other side, as against an enemy: they spoil the [j]beautiful garment from them that pass by peaceably, as though they returned from the war.

The women of my people have ye cast out from their pleasant houses, and from their children have ye taken away [k]my glory continually.

10 Arise and depart, for this is not your [l]rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction.

11 If a man [m]walk in the spirit, and would lie falsely, saying, [n]I will prophesy unto thee of wine, and of strong drink, he shall even be the prophet of this people.

12 I will surely gather [o]thee wholly, O Jacob: I will surely gather the remnant of Israel: I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, even as the flock in the midst of their fold: the cities shall be full of brute of the men.

13 The [p]breaker up shall come up before them: they shall break out, and pass by the gate, and go out by it, and their king shall go before them, and the Lord shall be [q]upon their heads.
