¹⁰ Writhe in agony, Daughter Zion,
    like a woman in labor,
for now you must leave the city
    to camp in the open field.
You will go to Babylon;^(A)
    there you will be rescued.
There the Lord will redeem^(B) you
    out of the hand of your enemies.

²⁰ Leave Babylon,
    flee^(A) from the Babylonians!
Announce this with shouts of joy^(B)
    and proclaim it.
Send it out to the ends of the earth;^(C)
    say, “The Lord has redeemed^(D) his servant Jacob.”

¹³ Pains as of a woman in childbirth^(A) come to him,
    but he is a child without wisdom;
when the time^(B) arrives,
    he doesn’t have the sense to come out of the womb.^(C)

¹⁴ “Therefore I am now going to allure her;
    I will lead her into the wilderness^(A)
    and speak tenderly to her.

⁹ Burst into songs of joy^(A) together,
    you ruins^(B) of Jerusalem,
for the Lord has comforted^(C) his people,
    he has redeemed Jerusalem.^(D)
10 The Lord will lay bare his holy arm^(E)
    in the sight of all the nations,^(F)
and all the ends of the earth^(G) will see
    the salvation^(H) of our God.

¹¹ Depart,^(I) depart, go out from there!
    Touch no unclean thing!^(J)
Come out from it and be pure,^(K)
    you who carry the articles^(L) of the Lord’s house.
¹² But you will not leave in haste^(M)
    or go in flight;
for the Lord will go before you,^(N)
    the God of Israel will be your rear guard.^(O)

¹³ I will raise up Cyrus^[a](A) in my righteousness:
    I will make all his ways straight.^(B)
He will rebuild my city^(C)
    and set my exiles free,
but not for a price or reward,^(D)
    says the Lord Almighty.”
